EA responds to All Pro 2K8...kinda

I posted this in the Madden forum but I thought you guys might want to see EA's first public comments on 2K's announcement last week:

As we walked through the various rooms of the palatial nightclub Cameo in Miami's South Beach district, I asked him whether he was worried about the recent news that 2K Sports getting back into videogame football with non-NFL-sanctioned All-Pro Football 2K8. The always-genial Erb replied that he welcomed the competition, but spoke at far greater length about the new tone that he was trying to bring to his corner of EA Sports: less arrogance, more humility. As journalists and bloggers, we much prefer the trash-talking, chest-thumping, wedgie-delivering EA Sports of old. But, truth be told, the image of the star quarterback lording it over scrawny freshmen was beginning to grate on a small but increasingly vocal contingent of sports gamers, so a course correction was probably in order. But can a kinder, gentler EA Sports maintain its edge? We'll just have to wait until this summer to see whether the more Zen EA Sports can still grind the sure-to-be-brash 2K Sports into the dust.

If EA makes better games then their consumers wouldn't have such hate.

SOOOOO true and I am a EA gamer BECAUSE I HAVE TO BE. I think we all had to be the past few years football wise. EVERYTHING else I own sports wise is 2k, no one can touch them with realism.

I have a Xbox 360 and have NCAA 07 that I play ALOT, BUT I still kept my PS2 with NFL2k5 because it is the best football game to date bar none.

With all pro coming out, I think the customized options will give us enough options to make it the NFL for hard core fans like our selfs. ONE thing 2k does is deliver. they don't open their mouth unless it WILL happen. This is the best news in years in the video game industry.

later guys

You don't create humility. It's a matter of the heart. The fact that their marketing dept. is trying to infuse humility in the company tells me a lot about where they currently stand.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. You either are or are not humble; the only thing worse than arrogance is feigned humility. Leave it to EA...

Haha, are you guys serious?

Typical that EA-bashers would find any reason to bring down the company. I mean, I hate their products, too, but I'm not going to sit here and complain that they are finally trying to be more humble and less arrogant.

The point is they are making it a priority to respect the competition and not stick out their chest constantly. It has to start somewhere and though there may be hiccups in the process it's the start that creates a strong cycle.
