Will they have a site that breaks down how to play 2K8? My friend subscribed to a Madden site a couple of years ago that broke down either '06 or '05, explaining that "knowledge of the game" will beat "stick skills". Did they have a site for 2K5? By the way, I'm interested in learning a little more about the inner workings of 2K although I'm fairly well versed on football in general.

For the matter of how 4-3,3-4,nickle,dime,and whatever else there is this is how I think of it.

I base what I do by how many receivers the other team has

0=Goaline
1,2=4/3,3/4
3=Nickle
4=Dime
5=Quarter

Thats so there is a corner on every receiver.

Bear formation is a reincarnation of the 46 defense that Buddy Ryan installed with the Chicago Bears, thus the name Bear. Its just a 4-3 defense with 8 players closer to the line of scrimmage than normal to stop the run and to blitz pressure the passer.

The other formations are self explanatory and you will find plenty of info on them.

I put together some how to documents back in the day... combined that with break downs of the defensive options done by kruza and some extensive threads on some other things. I actually reposted the doc a few months ago but I can throw it back up if it seems most still apply (I think I had all of Kruza's stuff in there too).

Either way, don't worry... there are some people around here dying to get their 15 minutes of fame who will be more than happy to put out all the info you'll need. I'm sure there will be a couple of 100 page threads for just this alone. Stick around here and you'll be well covered.

honestly, i've burned quite a few people that simplify things to this level. it's a good place to start but 3, 4 and 5 wide sets have draw plays, sweeps, etc. you should also consider down and distance, score, momentum, field placement, weather, etc. personally i tend to pick my defense without even worrying about the offense most of the time. if you think you can audible to a fly pattern for your 4th best WR and expect him to make a play over my starting olb or safety that's a chance i'm often willing to take.
