Who can quickly tell if the "D" is in man or zone?

I played a guy online who picked me apart. He basically made my legends look like generics.

He's a good guy and told me he can read man or zone when he gets to the los.

He doesn't use motion or twins or anything like that. He just seems to know. He said it was by how the guys line up. I can't read zone/man without help.

Can any of you do what this guy did? Please, I need tips on how to read the coverage without having to motion or go 'twins'.

If you read the MLB you can usually get a good feel. If the MLB takes off, its man, if he just drops back its zone.

I can email you a document on how to read coverages and much more.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty good at reading thee defense after the snap.

But, what I'm talking about is before the ball is ever snapped. Is there some subtle way a defender lines up? Does his stance change a little?

You can try moving a man in motion

Tough day to rock the Michigan logo, man PM me the document you're referring to. On a good day, I'm disciplined enough to figure this out, but playing online makes me jittery and sometimes I make dumb mistakes, so a checklist for reading coverages might be good.

And SLthree--this is not necessarily man or zone, but I've noticed that on the blitz, if they're sending the WLB, after the huddle breaks, that player will line up in the C/G gap instead of their usual spot. It's a dead giveaway, just so you know. Also, pay attention to the defensive matchups. I know they try and hide what your opponentis doing, but I can still see who they're assinging to my #1 receiver, etc. When your huddle breaks, watch to see where their #1 corner is going. If it's to your #1 receiver, it's man; if not, it's zone.

BTW, I wish I could play you online--I'm looking into that UPNP thing to see if it makes a difference. Here's to hoping it does

well, that dude can say he knows before the snap, if it's i-form and you line up in straight 4-3, there's no way to tell with a signal stealer or until after the snap. I use a lot of 4-4 and I've noticed when I pick a man defense the guys will shadow their assigned player, but that's usually because a formation is stacked onto one side.

if it's an even formation, you just have to wait until the snap, then I usually watch the linebackers. works fine for me as I can identify zone/man on every play.

No..you can tell if you are in formations like I twins also. That is half the reason to run I twins in the first place. Cmon guys, think a little here.
