Re: Lou Groza and other Iron Men

After seeing Groza for a bit longer I am a little dissapointed with his strength. He can easily be bull rushed by bigger stronger players. His Strengths are speed and pass blocking.

However a larger player can use strength to get by Groza. If anything Groza can be a valuable special teams player when it comes to punt returns, since he can block a bit. His speed is very noticeable. So on punts and kick returns he can be valuable as a blocker there.

As an every day LT, I am seeing too many times in a one on one guys using strength to push Groza back and him not being able to handle it.

However speed rushers have no chance against him. He picks up blitzes 95% of the time with accuracy and he moves very well laterally (he must have some good agility).

More than once I have seen him just stand there and let a defender go by him without him doing anything then again I have seen that from my generic lineman at times as well.

So with such speed I would think he would be great as a Guard who you could use with lots of pulls, traps & coutners?. Also, if you pair him with a o-lineman with Leadership (at the least Steve Wisnewski, Bronze, Guard) that could up his abilities. Or, even better, pair him at Tackle with someone like Ditka and you could solidify both ends of the line.

Noll at Guard is a pretty steady pass blocker, no push on run plays (size?) the same with Lathon.

Langer at LB, just. no. Too slow and a very poor tackler, its like driving a dump truck.

Pihos at DE/ Creekmur at DT; Pihos has some speed to get around the edge but even then his size leads him to be man handled by generic OLs. Ive rarely seen DLs pancaked in this game, Pihos changed that. Creekmur has the size but thats it, no push at all, even one on one against generics.
