NFL Rosters With Edited Ratings

Before you read this post, please give credit to Convince, Flying Finn, and gjsii13. Without them this project of mine would not be possible.

Now that we have all teams with their correct uniforms and logos thanks to gjsii13 I am going to be starting on a roster set that is correct down to the 4th string. This includes numbers, ratings, etc. I will be using Finn's editor to do so.

In making my rosters, I will be using Convince's 2k11 roster for ESPN NFL 2k5. I will be taking strength and speed and just simply copying it over to Backbreaker for each player. For agility I will using Agility, Catch, and Jumping to get the main agility rating for each player. The reason why I chose those 3 attributes is because agility in Backbreaker is a player's ability to catch, jump, and use agile moves such as spins and jukes. So I figured the average of those 3 ratings should reflect the player well in Backbreaker.

To get the focus I am using different things for each position. Quarterbacks are simple with Pass Accuracy. Other positions like Tight End are more complicated as I use (Average of Run Block + Pass Block) + Run Route.

Once I finish a team, I then global edit their RB's, FB's, TE's, and Offensive lineman and give them all a 10% strength boost. This helps balance the game out more. As the game stands now, the defense has the upper leg. So if a defensive lineman is as strong as an offensive lineman, he'll still get through him easily for the most part. Running backs also go down pretty easy with 2k5's strength. So by giving them the 10% boost, offensive lineman hold their blocks longer allowing the QB more time and opening up more holes for the backs. And this strength boost will help keep running backs going down so easily from an arm tackle or just a simple bump into a blocker.

Before the 10% boost I was falling down from brushing my blockers. After I did the boost, I broke off a 30 yard run with Portis that had me run into a blocker and two defenders and when they all collided I collided with them, fell back a few steps and then proceeded up field until I was brought down by a safety.

If anyone would like to help me just PM me. You could help get the correct endzones, skin colors, depth charts, or you could even do a team or division. I will reply back with detailed instructions.

7/32 Teams Finished.

Here is the file so far. Includes NFC East + Vikings, Lions, Packers.

It needs to be resigned. To do so watch this video.

You can either watch the video or just read the description. It is not my video, it is gjsii13's and he describes it very clearly and gives easy instructions.

Make sure you rename the file BBCUST14 before putting it on your HDD otherwise it will not work.

- WR = Avg. Run Route + Hold on to Ball
- O Line = Avg. Run Block + Pass Block
- D Line = Avg. Pass Rush + Rush Coverage

- DB = Coverage

Agility Formula
All Positions = Avg. Agility + Jumping + Catching

Speed and Strength are just copied over

I feel like that by doing them this way I am getting players to be rated like they should be. Hopefully they'll play like they should too. With the agility rating, the highest you'll see a defensive player is mid 60's while offensive players can get up to the high 80's. I hope that will cut down on the interceptions and make the CPU more powerful on offense.
Wouldn't that kinda neglect the impact of a guy like Revis or Reed in the secondary?

Those are playmakers and shouldn't be punished or held to the same guidlines as most others DB's. In fact one could debate they are just as good as most WR's in the game at going after the ball when it's in the air.

I understand what your attempting to do but I would comprise a list of the top 15-20 defenders in the league and make special exceptions for them or maybe 1-2 top defenders per team

So far I have the NFC East done, my next division will be the NFC South.

I tried these just being curious and they're not bad I think you're on to somethin' and its not a bad thing considering the games strong defense and those ball hawking DBs, keep at these I'm liking what I'm seeing so far with a few tweaks these could be just what the doctor ordered.

I'll keep an eye on these and see what you come up with next. Guys check em' out they're pretty go imo.

Does this take a very long time? How long until you think you will be done with the NFL?

Well for my own testing with them I played a game Giants vs Cowboys 10 minute quarters me being the Boys, interesting game I won after a comeback by me.

Why 10 minutes you might ask...gives me and the game time to get a true feel for whats goin' on as in "game flow" and "game play" in general, I notice the game will adapt and use different types of stratigies at times but I didn't see a true fatigue factor as in subs, might just be me but I did get a good vibe and was imersed in the game having to play smart in order to make a comeback.

Check your depth charts Giants punter wasn't in and he had a punt blocked some guy pretty much zerod out was in also their starting FB so check your depth charts I wouldn't use zeroed out players...bench players or not.

The offensive line felt pretty good for both sides but could have been a bit quicker and stronger for sweeps and toss plays and time in the pocket, nothing extreame, at least not yet.

Linebackers particularly the outside linebackers seem too be very aggressive and fast they cost me some roughing the passer and kicker penalties in my game, that was a good thing imo shows your edits are working just needing some fine tuneing I keep an eye out on that and wouldn't adjust too much until more game and different team matchups are played.

Cornerbacks and safties weren't too bad but on deep throws and in the flats they seemed to be abit too aware and somewhat over reactive picking me off at keep moments in the game when I thought I had decent momentum they need to be toned down abit they're good almost too good imo.

Fullbacks particularly blocking fullbacks need strenght and speed to get out front and do some serious damage in their block schemes, I need more games but didn't like seeing them over powered constantly, keep an eye out for them in their blocking assignments.

Runningbacks now don't get crazy not everyone is an Adrian Peterson but juice em' up abit to pull off those special skills particularly the elite ones as the guy I just mention, he should be your focus back to adjust to see if you're on the right track and we all know he's a beast.

Recievers and tightends need strength and something more for releases and blocking assignments off the line and taking care of those aggressive CBs and outside LBs who can become blitz happy so keep an eye out on those and adjust accordingly nothing extreame use different teams to gauge whats going on with them some are elite players as I stated before.

As I said the game felt about right for my playing skill I'm no stick wonder guy so go by your best estimates but keep inmind not all of us are that great at using stick skills I'm average and no wuss, the game modes and settings help us out adjusting accordingly so keep and eye out as for making the game too difficult its hard enough already.

Don't worry about getting a complete roster out guys and those "Are we there yet guys" piss me off acting as if you owe them something, if the aren't giving you tips and advice they're just looking to get something they haven't contributed to so pay them no mind like most small children they have no real patience.

You do your thang bro and keep at getting the game right and whats feels good for you to release a roster with input from true gamers who "want to help and assist" you in producing a fine roster worthy of being played for entertainment puposes only and fun in general.

I'll keep an eye on your thread to see whats goin' on and give some input with what I see and if any of you other true games out there have anything to contribute do so and let em' know what he can do to create a fun roster set we all can have fun and enjoy.

Re: NFL Rosters With Edited Ratings

Thanks for the feedback man. I agree with most your points too. I forgot to mention the depth charts will be off for now and will have to be done manually. I did finish them in my game, but I didn't have them done with the upload.

I agree that the offensive line could be stronger. With Orakpo I can blitz and get to the QB almost every play. I think I may need to decrease the defensive line and LB's strength 10%. I also might decrease DB focus 5%. They seem to play good, but some guys with the higher focus were a tad too good on routes. I think just decreasing 5% will get that where I want it.

Also, with FB's I used both run and pass blocking ratings, so their focus ratings are pretty low. I might need to just use the run blocking rating and awareness rating instead. Thoughts about this would be appreciated.

On the NONE NONE #0 players. Those are players that the game has on the depth chart, but the team lacks. Would it be better if I just left a random name in their with low ratings? I personally think the NONE NONE #0 thing will help clear confusion in the depth chart.

Also, for the WRs and TEs, they were left out of the 10% strength boost. Should I give them the boost to so they can block more effectively on the outside runs, up field blocking, etc.
