Re: World American Football League: Join Up!

This is not taken care of. I knew you would point out the Rangers logo, but it does not fall into any category of copyright law because I'm not representing myself as a member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. You are saying that your league is the World American Football League, when you are in fact not. You are ripping off a logo period, and no wall of text is going to change that.

I still maintain the boycott of this league. If you were to go to that web site and ask them in a request, I am sure that some people would help you out. The fact that you used it without their EXPRESSED WRITTEN CONSENT is something that should not go unpunished. If you want to have this grand league where you're the king, go on ahead. But don't do it without compensation to those who you have ripped off.

Re: World American Football League: Join Up!

He gave them credit for making the logos. Jeez, why do you care so much? Its so trivial. You must really like madden. All those trivial details that amount to nothing.

Two birds in one stone... lol (it was a joke)

But really dude, they are two totally different things. One is a fantasy league correct? This is a video game sim league. It honestly doesn't matter. Its not like two HUGE online football leauges that bring in thousands of people and hunreds of thousands of dollars.

But bottom line, he gave credit

Anybody can give credit for ripping off logos, but this person is using the likeness of this league as his own. Even in the post on the Backbreaker forums he was asked the question "Why are you called the World American Football League."

The answer: "WAFL stands for World American Football League because while the entire backbreaker world is watching, America will be playing the greatest sim league ever to be created"

Never once did he mention that he had to choose that name because the logo had the name already in it, and that he couldn't remove it himself. He had the intention to steal this logo from the beginning, and that alone is irresponsible. The only time that Chris Creamer's Sports Logo Community is mentioned is in this topic, as there is still no mention of the Community on his website.

What game I choose is of no importance: I believe in the free market and the ability for consumers to choose the better of two or more products. I also happen to believe that taking the hard work of designers and using it without written consent is not only illegal, but it is also immoral. The facts are that this person has willingly broken the law, and he has no ready defense to defend his plagiarism. For somebody who is a "journalism major," this alone is damning to both his personal credibility as well as his professional career.

The only thing that can rectify the situation is that he removes all logos and wordmarks of this league from his website and his avatar on the Backbreaker forums. Then, I would suggest that he actually request some help for a logo. In this case, "the Commish" can have his own league, and the reputation of the designer is not tarnished.

Re: World American Football League: Join Up!

First off, there is. Its at the bottom in an almost white text, like all disclaimers. But It is there. And its been there the whole time.

Yes, yes, you believe in the consumers ability to pick between two products that are in the same market. ONE is a fantasy football leauge (NFL), and the other is a video game sim league (Backbreaker). They are different.

And in the end, the other league is no longer in commision from what I saw (yes I went there).

You also have not even checked to see if the logos are on a "use but give credit" basis.

So quit trying so hard. It doesn't matter and all you are doing is trolling a thread for no reason.

In bold is quite possibly the worst analogy I have ever heard in my entire life. I believe in competative products, but I never encorage the entire ripoff of an identity package. If you break the law and claim that you did it, that is still breaking the law. Period.

This isn't about trolling, it's about giving credit where credit is due. I still do not see any disclaimer at the bottom of his website, but if there was, it wouldn't matter because he is breaking the law. He is stealing somebody's work, and he's doing his best to cover it up. It's not worth defending him; it would be better for you to tell him what I have said and to move forward with a new identity: preferably one that isn't stolen from another league.

And I urge that the members of this board along with other players to continue to boycott this league. I appeal to your common sense morals not to support hurting the designer of this logo. I urge you to stand up and do what is right, and to be bold about it. We must not let the evil of this world take over while those in the right do nothing.

*Facepalm*
It wasn't analogy. Its a fact. The parens were just for further clarification for those who don't what we are talking about. The original, now defunct, WAFL was an NFL fantasy league. This WAFL is a Backbreaker video game sim league. There, it that easier to understand? I can see how one would interpret that as analogy with the way I put it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

He never claimed he made it though. And gave all credit where credit was due.

Which he did. lol.

Its is there. Here is what it says

He knows what you said. He's posted in this thread. The league is defunct, anyway. Do you think the XFL would care if you used their logos? Heck no, cause they don't exist anymore.

Ok, seriously dude. "We must not let the evil of this world take over while those in the right do nothing." LOL. Wha? A videogame league, and a fantasy league with the same logo? Evil is afoot!!! Dumbest thing I've ever heard. This isn't hurting anyone. Its not evil. Seriously the most effed up think I have ever heard on a forum ever. Don't go around calling other stuff dumb when you post something like this about something as trivial as a football logo for two non-profit leagues. I felt like I need the Billy Madison quote here, but it doesn't deserve it. But I do award a Perfect Zero. F-.
Dear forum members, I appeal to your common sense to call BS! when you see it.

But alas, this thread will be locked at the request of commish. You can still join the leauge, but it will longer be supported at OS.

The following are words from the Commish.

Quote:
"You said that it is about giving credit where credit is due. Ok well I have given credit. I'm sorry you can't see it but its there. You can use zoom on flash and I am not trying to hide it. To car companies but there disclaimers on the bottom of the screen in big black print size 20 pt font. No, because that is not the point of the commercial. The point of this league is not to honor the designer of the logos but with that said, I still have. I have never once tried to deny that. I am not trying to cover anything up, infact, i even copyied and pasted what it says at the bottom of my website word for word on my last post in this forum and you never once acknowledged that. You act like I dont know what you're saying, perfect zero, I have already responded to your comments and you, I don't think, even noticed. I don't think giving credit for a logo is hurting a designer. Hurt is when your mom dies ,your dog gets run over by a car, you fail a class because of a F on a test you can't make up, or when you lose your job. When people make NFL websites, dont people quote that the logos are property of the NFL. Sure they do and that's what ive done with the WAFL. This is getting old and tired and you can continued on and on about this all year while my league is playing if you have too but the simple fact of the matter is:

~I gave credit

I am using two steps from hell music for my league broadcasts. I have also expressed that all music was produced and distrubuted by two steps from hell and in no way shape or form is the work mine. Should I call them up and get written consent to use their music, which I possessed from their collection of music personally? Stop hiding the fact that I have never hid that the logos were not of my own and just use your zoom tool and flash and see for yourself.
Mods, please lock, so Perfect Zero can rest his weary soul. Please lock it, so you can close shut the jaws of oblivion, and evil shall no longer spew forth into this great realm....

No, but seriously, please lock this thread. Thanks in advance.
