Giants Continues Playoff Magic in Spring
Sanchez and Belt goes yard to give the World Champions a 4-1 victory against the D-Backs
Scottsdale-Well it's that time of year again, the Giants hope to defend their World Series Trophy. On Friday they took their first step towards the goal of repeating by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in Scottsdale.
Giants ace Tim Lincecum looked solid in his Spring Training debut, pitching 3 full innings, giving up just an unearned run and allowed one hit. Lincecum was followed Edlefsen, Mota, Affeldt, and Brian "Fear the Beard" Wilson, who earned his first save of the spring.
"I was just trying to face one batter at a time, just try to work on my release on my slider, and it felt good." Lincecum told the press after the game.
Said manager Bruce Bochy. "Timmy looked comfortable out there. He's right where we need him at this part of spring, and Dave (Righetti) is keeping close eye on him to see if the workload from the postseason is affecting him."
Freddy Sanchez, who was 2 for 2 with a solo home run, said that he is fully healthy and should be ready to go on Opening Day.
"My swing is 100%, my left shoulder isn't bothering me and at all. It felt good hitting out there again." Sanchez said.
21 year-old Brandon subbed in for Aubrey Huff in the fifth. In his 2 at bats, he hit an opposite field 2 run homer in his second at bat. The young first baseman looks promising and relishes the chance of playing with stars such as Cody Ross.
Arizona starter Daniel Hudson was given the loss, he went 3 innings and gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 3.
Lincecum went 3 solid innings, only giving up an unearned run
Sanchez went 2 for 2 with a solo homer

Re: One More Time! | The 2011 San Francisco Giants (MLB 11 The Show)
Despite Loads of Doubles, Giants Lose in Extras Former Giant Cody Ransom hits walk off home run in the 11th
Scottsdale- On Tuesday the Giants had 8 doubles but they could drive in 5 runs. With a narrow 1 run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, Javier Lopez came to close things out, but he gives up a game-tying home run to Arizona first baseman Juan Miranda. In the 11th, Cody Ransom hits a walk off homer to send the D-Backs to a 6-5 victory. Arizona manager Kirk Gibson sent out 9 pitchers, giving them 11 innings of work. Veteran Aaron Heilman earned the win for the Diamondbacks. Giants tarter Matt Cain went two innings, giving up one run. Javier Lopez took the loss as he tries to change from a lefty specialist to a more regular set-up role.
"I think I needed the extra innings I'm getting right now. I'm trying to show and improve on my versatility here in spring," Lopez said.
"My location is not there yet, and I'll be sure that Juan and Ransom won't get to see those pitches again in the regular season."
Spring invite Francisco Peguero had a solid day hitting in the eighth spot. he went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs in the process. Speedster Darren Ford went 3 for 6 at leadoff. They both look to be great candidates for a reserve spot on the bench for the big league club.
"It's great to face big league pitcher here in Arizona, even if I don't make the cut for the call up it will still be some valuable experience," Ford said after the game.
Justin Upton hits a moonshot in the bottom of the third inning
The Giants had a combined 8 doubles the whole game but failed to make chances pay
Francisco Peguero had a 3 hit night with a RBI

When ask about his versatility, Schierholtz said he is confident to play every outfield spot and even play some first base. Nate is completing against rookie Darren Ford and back up first baseman Travis Ishikawa.
"I played left and center during the Olympics, and I played first in college. I hope to get some games in those position this spring so I can prove my worth for the team. There's definitely alot of competition for the last spot, Darren (Ford) and Travis (Ishikawa) are both having a good spring. Brandon (Belt) might even make the roster for opening day."
Jonathan Sanchez strikes out 4 and gives up only 1 hit in 3 innings
The Giants hammered Carlos Silva, with 5 runs in just 1 inning
Andres Torres hits a RBI triple in the 4th
