Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

May 32rd, 2012 Sox @ Orioles (sportscasted)

Summary
Mike Montgomery looking to stay hot, does just that. Striking out 11 in 6 innings of work. The RedSox got a early start when Castro got hit by a pitch followed by Grandal getting on base when Manny Ramirez showed us what he does best, going yard. Manny hit a bomb to left that gave the Red Sox all the runs they needed to win the game. Aroldis Chapman came in for an inning and 2/3 and followed right where Montgomery left off striking out 3 of his 5 outs. Javy Guerra got an inning of work to get save number 20 on the season. All overshadowed by what looked like a hard diving catch when Yoenis Cespedes couldnt get up, but it just turns out to be back soreness and he will be listed as day to day.

Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

May 28th, 2012 Tigers @ Sox (sportscasted)

Summary
Red Sox put on a hitting clinic, putting insane numbers up and giving the crowd at Fenway a show. The Sox start out scoring 3 in the 3rd, but that just was the start as they go on to win 14-1 behind 5 home runs and a back to back from Jesus Montero and Yoenis Cespedes who had 2 on the day. On the bad news, Manny Ramirez goes down in the 2nd inning with a ACL sprain and is expected to be out 2-3 weeks. RF Chris Dominguez of AAA Pawtucket will get the call up while hes out, and Hak-Ju Lee will take Ramirez spot at DH.

Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

May Recap
Again, I am really surprised with how well my team is performing so far. The bats are out of this world right now. Harper is hitting like a machine, lots of home runs and RBI's, as well as some real young raw pitchers playing at Cy Young level with Kershaw. Overall I think its been a real productive month, I got a couple guys bats going and everyone is kind of hitting the ball well now. It looks like the Phillies are going to be real strong come October, and can easily see us making a good playoff run this year. Id say the Twins are the biggest competition right now, they probably have the best and most powerful lineup and they are hitting great right now. The Royals also are in the run with the Twins, tied for first in the division right now, they bring strong pitching and just chip away at you. Aside from the Manny injury, and the small back injury to Cespedes its nice to see my team is staying healthy at the moment. Still trying to look into some relievers, got a couple in mind but not sure if either team will give them up.

Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

June 1st, 2012 Sox @ Blue Jays (sportscasted)

Summary
Sox got off to a early lead, which went away as quick as it came. Sox then made an 8th inning comeback and it looked to be in the bag, Aroldis Chapman comes in the bottom of the 8th to set it up for Guerra, and has no control, walking 2 batters and giving up the tying run after loading the bases. In the top of the 12th Bryce Harper goes deep to give the Sox a 9-7 lead, which would eventually expand to a 10-7 lead, and the W. Javy Guerra gets save number 23 on the season.

Trade Alert
Red Sox make two deals that get finalized on June 2nd. Sox send SP Gerrit Cole, which many seem to believe is within a year of being MLB ready, to the Braves for 20 year old Cuban pitching prospect Gerrardo Conception. Gerrardo is still a very raw and young talent, but has all the tools to become an elite reliever in a year or two. Secondly the Sox make a huge deal to aquire RP Kenley Jansen from the Astros for pitching prostpect Zach Lee, who many also believe can be an MLB start by next year, and a second pitching prospect Aaron Laffey who can be a call up guy or solid starter. The Move helps solidify the right hand position in the pen as Andrew Cashner has been struggling. The move will send Robbie Ross down to AAA Pawtucket and Cashner to assume the long relief role. Gerrardo will be in a contributing role in AAA Pawtucket. Jansen is 1-0 with a 2.32 ERA and has 33 strikeouts in 34 games this season.

A look ahead
- June 5th Sox host Baltimore to play a 3 game series, Game 1 Kershaw looks to continue his dominant season and recover from his lackluster start and improve to 8-2
- Sox host the Nationals for the first and only time in the season

Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

June 6th, 2012 Orioles @ Sox (sportscasted)

Summary
Leading the game off with a HBP, the game was doomed from the start. Rubby De La Rosa who had been brilliant up until late is letting his youth show. Walking 6 and hitting 2, the Orioles had men in scoring position all game long and didnt put it to waste, highlighted by Sterling Marte's performance going 3-3, a home run and 2 bunt singles. King Felix wen 8 innings strong striking out 8 and only giving up 2 runs. Sox are 2-3 on the month of June and are 0-2 at home, Hope to salvage game 3 tomorrow night vs the Orioles when Matt Harvey (4-3) takes on Ricky Romero (3-5).

RD4. 22Boston Red SoxFidel Perez 22 LF5'7''189

Recap

Most of the guys I got scouted had a little lower overall, so for the first round I took a complete shot in the dark and guessed wrong. 18 year old Theodore Cho has an ok overall, the right handed reliever will probably be a very solid AAA player with a D potential.

Later in the first round a few of the guys I had scouted were towards the top of the board so I jumped on a starter with a B potential and already insane stamina. Juan Sousa looks like he can maybe make a crack into the majors with a few years of development.

In the supplemental round, a 22 year old starter was still on the board that I had scouted so I knew what I was going to get, and that is an A potential overall solid stat starter that will probably crack the majors after some development, but probably wont crack the starting rotation.

My second pick in the supplemental round was a 21 year old Catcher with a B potential, and one thing I really liked, and made me pull the trigger was his insane base running ability and very solid speed for a catcher. With some time in the minors he could develop into a solid back up catcher, with very very bad durability, so injury will always be an issue with Gary Carpenter.

Next 2 rounds I took B potential starters age 21 and 18, with hopes of keeping good talent in my minors, Juan Estrella looks to have some solid upside but the stamina is an issue and may be moved to the pen.

Last round I just went with a LF for depth, since im kinda weak there, only a C potential with low overall and is 22. So not much in this pick.

Re: My Sox are Red -a detailed Boston RedSox Fantasy franchise

June 10th, 2012 Nationals @ Sox

Summary
After a very rough 1st inning Kershaw got back on track. Going 7 innings and throwing 118 pitches, 21 of which were in the first inning, and 19 in the second when he got out of a bases loaded jam. Jesus Montero is the clutch performer of the game picking up 3 RBI's on 2 hits. Sox win the series 2-1 at home vs the Nats.
