OH CANADA! --- A Toronto Blue Jays Dynasty

OH CANADA -- A Toronto Blue Jays Dynasty

Welcome everyone to my Jays dynasty page. I will be playing on All Star difficulty with custom sliders, and custom rosters. I will play 162 game season. I started doing a play 1 sim 1 format, but decided I want to play all the games now. Also, I started with a simple box score type write up, but now using OS Original box scores.

The story starts, AA has just been fired and new GM Tyler Spencer was announced. Right away he said he liked the new team, but feel he needs to make a few moves to make this team a contender right now. He said he was looking for another star player to play with a great lineup of Bautista, Encarnacion, Reyes, Cabrera. He also said he wanted to bring in a better 5th starter and a Long reliever.

ENJOY FOLKS! COMMENTS ARE WELCOME

Jays Make Four Moves: Get Cano From Yankees!

TORONTO, ON -- The Jays GM Tyler Spencer wasted very little time, making four trades in one week, the biggest with division rivals the Yankees. The Jays got 2B Robinson Cano from New York, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent at seasons end, but the Jays didn't care as they wanted to make a great push this year and worry about resigning him later. The Jays also got SP Michael Pineda from the Yankees in the deal, sending back 3B Brett Lawrie and SP Rickey Romero. Lawrie gives the Yankees a long term star and they get a more than capable SP who had come to the end with the Blue Jays and will hope to better his career in New York.

The Jays also made three more deals so here they are with a breakdown of each deal.
- Jays trade 1B David Cooper, INF Mike McCoy, AA Low B SP prospect to the St. Louis Cardinals for 1B/DH Mike Adams and INF Daniel Descalso. Cooper was a better contact hitter and same overall as Adams but Adams had better power vs. both handed pitchers which is what Toronto wanted. Descalso will provide INF depth but probabaly wont make the big club roster. McCoy will provide similar depth for St. Louis and they also get a decent pitching prospect back to sweeten the deal.

- The Jays then designated 1B/DH Adam Lind for assignment, and by surprise they were contacted by the Braves for a deal involving Lind. NEW league rule this year announced that the National League will be playing with a DH. The Braves thought Lind would be a good fit with McCann out and needing a bat to plug in the DH slot. The Jays got back MR Luis Ayala, and LR Christian Martinez for Lind and a AA pitching prospect. Ayala probably wont make the opening roster and will provide depth for the team while Martinez is expected to be the teams second long reliever with Brett Cecil.

- Lastly, the Jays sent Closer Casey Jannsen and Low B Pitching prospect, and Mid C INF prospect to the Rays for their Closer Fernando Rodney and 2B/3B Ryan Roberts. The deal gives the Rays a couple decent prospects and a more than capable closer. The Jays get a better closer, only on a 1 year deal until Stroman is expected to take over as the 9th inning guy. They also get often injured INF Roberts who will provide depth for the big club.

NOOOOO!!! You took away the National League's balls with the new rule of having a DH! Haha! This should be interesting, seeing Cano in Blue Jay colors.

Big splash by the new GM..

It is nice to see you dipping into the dynasty craze.

Game 1: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cleveland Indians

TORONTO, ON --The Jays opened their season in a bad way vs. the Indians, as RA Dickey was roughed up in the 2nd inning allowing 5 runs to take the loss. The Jays did manage 10 hits but they couldnt string anything together as they left the bases loaded twice in the game. The Jays took the tough loss by a score of 5-1.

Jose Bautista's RBI single in the 1st was the only offense the team could muster on the day, while the Indians got RBI singles by Bourn, and Stubbs, followed by a RBI double by Carlos Santana and a 2-RBI tripple by Jason Kipnis. Dickey did calm down pitching into the 6th with 7 K's, but after allowing a leadoff hit gave way to LR Cristhian Martinez who pitched a great 3 innings allowing only 2 hits.

Indians starter Justin Masterson was masterful on the day pitching 9 innings allowing 10 hits and only 1 run while striking out 4. The Jays will look to bounce in game 2 as Josh Johnson takes the mound vs. Brett Myers. Here is the box score:

Toronto Blue Jays (0-1):
Reyes - 1/4, R, K
Cano - 2/4
Bautista - 1/4, RBI
Encarnacion - 1/4

Bonifacio - 1/3

Dickey (L: 0-1) - 5IP, 9H, 5ER, 7K

Kipnis - 1/4, 2RBI, R, 3B, K
Santana - 3/4, RBI, 2B, K
Reynolds - 0/4, 2K
Swisher - 0/4, 3K

Notes:

Thanks man! Yea I wanted to change it up by allowing NL to DH, should be some fun. Love Cano and happy to have him. Likely no more trades for a while unless injuries occur of course, but glad to see your following. Enjoy

Re: OH CANADA! --- A Toronto Blue Jays Dynasty

Game 2: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cleveland Indians:
TORONTO, ON -- The Jays bats came alive for game two as they destroyed the Indians 10-1 to even the series. Brett Myers was throwing muffins all night as the Jays smacked 5 runs off him, and then after Cleveland left reliever Joe Smith in way to long, Toronto took advantage smacking 5 runs off him as well. Edwin Encarnacion had a massive day at the plate going 3/5 with 2 Home Runs and 6 RBI. He was the obvious player of the game.

Josh Johnson pitched a gem, as his only earned run was a solo HR by Carlos Santana in the 1st inning. The Jays responded in their half of the 1st when Bautista hit a RBI double and Encarnacion smacked his 1st of two homers in the game to drive in 2, 3-1 Jays. In the 3rd, Rasmus and Encarnacion would hit RBI singles to make it 5-1 Jays. The game would settle down a bit then as Smith pitched a couple good innings, but in the 8th after being obviously left out to long was taken advantage of by Toronto. Roberts hit a pinch hit RBI double followed by a Reyes RBI single and then Encarnacion blasted his 2nd homer of the game to drive in 3 more as the Jays took a monster 10-1 lead and that's how it would end.

The Jays will look to close out the series as Mark Buehrle will take the mound against Ubaldo Jimenez in the finale of the opening series. Here is the box score:

Toronto Blue Jays (1-1):
Reyes - 3/5, RBI, R, 2B
