Nationals' Bats Stolen From Flight to Chicago
Returned for Game 3

Word has it that all of the Washington Nationals' bats, with the exception of Ryan Zimmerman and Jeff Kobernus' bats, were stolen from their flight to Chicago before they took on the Cubs at Wrigley. The Nationals managed only 2 runs in 2 games before their bats were returned to them.

"Well yeah, it was pretty tough for the boys to hit without bats. That's why I wasn't riding them as hard as I could've been," said new Nats' manager Matt Williams. "Also, Jayson's bat was never returned, that's why he struck out 5 times in the series. Just a heads up," Williams also said.

Zimmerman and Kobernus were spared their bats, which they took carry-on. "It's a matter of principle with me," said Zimmerman, "I mean, something like this could always happen." Kobernus said that he saw Zimmerman do it, so he did as well: "Well, the stewardess questioned me about bringing my bat as carry-on. She was kind of hot, so after I explained why we wound up making out in the back."

In unrelated news, new Cubs' mascot Clark the Bear changed bats every inning in the first 2 games of the series, testing weight and length, as he stated.
