Another Drought in Store?

The Chicago White Sox have actually won a World Series title very recently, in 2005 over the Houston Astros. Before that, they couldn't win one for 88 years. They hadn't even won a pennant since 1959. Let's hope the South Side has something to cheer about soon.
The first WS title, in 1906, was a Subway series win over the rival cross-town Cubs, in 6 games. The "Hitless Wonders" beat the MLB-record 116 win Cubs behind 2 wins from Ed Walsh, including a then-record 12 Cubs in Game 3.
The second WS title came in 1917, 12 years later. This one, also a 6-gamer, came over the New York Giants. In one of the most chilling previews of the 'teens, nearly the exact same club that would become the Black Sox rode those stars to a victory.
The Bill Veeck-led White Sox lost to the newly-formed Los Angeles Dodgers in another 6-gamer. Ted Kluszewski hit 2 homers in Game 1, but the rarely-powerful Sox couldn't keep in up as the Dodgers—they of the great Dodger years—won the title.
The White Sox swept the hapless 'Stros in four with such old-time players as Jermaine Dye, Jon Garland, Mark Buehrle when he was good, etc.
Also on that team? South-Side minor deity Paul Konerko. If anyone desrves a World Series win again, it's poor Paul.
