GAME EIGHT RESULTS

...

TAMPA BAY RAYS (2-5)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (4-3)

JAYS RALLY LATE, STING RAYS
NAVARRO LEADS THE CHARGE AND HITS GAME WINNING HOMER IN BOTTOM OF THE 8TH

TORONTO, ON (AP) - The Rays were able to keep the Jays bats silent for most of the game and took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning. However that is when the wheels came off for the pitching staff and the Jays were able to start their rally. Toronto was not without their own issues, Buerhle took a line drive off his lower leg and had to leave the game with a leg injury. Further tests revealed nothing more then a very bad bruise and Mark would be able to start again next time out. Norris was called upon to come in and take over and pitch 5 very solid innings and allowed only a single run. The Jays were able to score a single run in the 6th and 7th inning before taking control for good in the 8th. This gave the Rays their 6th loss of the season already and put them into an early hole.

QUICK HITS
  • Norris and Estrada pitching 7 innings of one run ball after being called upon when Buerhle got injured
  • Pompey was in the lead off spot today as Reyes sat out for some rest, Pompey went 4-5 leading off however Pompey had 2 errors out in the field
  • Travis was able to pick up his first RBI of his career while batting second in the lineup, Bautista also drove in two runs for the first time this season
  • Tampa Bay who came in the best hitting team in the Majors was held to only 4 hits in this game and 10 over the first two game combined

GAME NINE RESULTS

...
TAMPA BAY RAYS (2-6)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (5-3)

RAYS STEAL A WIN IN THE 13TH
JASO IS THE HERO AS TAMPA BAY BLOW LATE LEAD

TORONTO, ON (AP) - Toronto once again found themselves in a extra inning game and Marco Estrada was called on once again but could not be the hero again. John Jaso was able to be the hero of the game in the top of the 13th inning hitting a solo shot to lead off the inning. Toronto was once again able to tie the game up late as Edwin smashed a homer in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Jays were able to rally in the bottom of the 13th and get the bases loaded with two out but Dalton Pompey ultimately struck out to end the threat and the game.

QUICK HITS
  • The Jays were able to get 10 hits on the board but could never take advantage of it to get runs across the board
  • Tolleson played his second straight game, but has so far started the season off 0-7, a demotion might be coming as the bullpen needs some fresh arms
  • Sanchez continued to start the season off good, he was able to strikeout 6 in 6 innings of work and only allowed 1 run
  • Buerhle came in an pitched 1 and 1/3 innings after coming out of yesterdays game but had to be taken out again as his leg was to sore to continue
  • Double plays plagued the Rays this game as they managed to hit into 5 of them through the game, killing rallies early and often in innings

GAME TEN RESULTS

...
TAMPA BAY RAYS (3-6)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (5-4)

JAYS OFFENSE FINALLY SHOWS UP AGAIN
SAUNDERS AND TRAVIS LEAD THE CHARGE IN OFFENSIVE OUTBURST

TORONTO, ON (AP) - It took awhile for some of the Blue Jays bats to get going but if this is any sign it will be a really fun summer in Toronto. Michael Saunders and Devon Travis both hit it off today and drove in a combined 7 runs. Josh Donaldson was also able to join the hit parade and went 3-4 in the win and hopefully finally turned the corner offensively. Marcus Stroman was also able to rebound after his first start with a strong showing throwing 7 innings and allowing 2 runs. The game was not without loss however as Justin Smoak was hurt on a play diving for a ground ball, he came up limping but managed to get the out before having to be carried off the field.

QUICK HITS
  • Edwin Encarnacion's hitting streak ended today, he had a 9 game hitting streak going into the game
  • Smoak will miss the remainder of the season with a torn MCL, this also could signal the end of his time in Toronto just as it began
  • First base might be manned by Danny Valencia moving forward with Edwin also taking his turns on defense
  • The bullpen got a good rest finally as Stroman and Redmond combined for the 9 innings of work
  • Atlanta is coming into Toronto for a weekend series with their pitching struggling and the Jays offense starting to heat up

SERIES FOUR PREVIEW
ATLANTA BRAVES (2-7)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (6-4)

PITCHING MATCHUPS

SERIES STAT COMPARISON

QUICK HITS
  • The Blue Jays will now find themselves against one of the best ranking pitching staffs in baseball, despite having a depleted lineup behind them
  • Valencia will be starting at first base for the Blue Jays for this series and moving forward it will be determined
  • Josh Donaldson has started hitting the ball better and look for him to continue to bat in the third spot in the lineup
  • Hutchison will be looking to rebound after his last start of the season and get out to a quick start against the Braves
  • Offensively the Braves are one of the worst ranked teams across the board in all stats except stolen bases, the Jays need to be on the lookout when there are men aboard

Re: Down To Business | A Toronto Blue Jays Franchise

this is very impressive bro, your layout is clean and easy to follow. It's been an up and down start to the season, but let's hope you can sweep my Braves, or not.

Thanks so much for checking and and thank you for the kind compliments its been a long time since doing one of these so wasn't to sure how my layout would work, but glad it is good so far! It has indeed been an up and down season so far, but off to a fairly good start even with the bats not really doing their thing yet. And I'll try and take it easy on the braves but no promises

GAME ELEVEN RESULTS

...
ATLANTA BRAVES (2-7)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (6-4)

HUTCHISON STRONG IN GAME ONE WIN
HUTCHISON WENT 6 STRONG AS THE JAYS DOUBLE UP ATLANTA

TORONTO, ON (AP) - It isn't exactly a stat line you will see to often from a pitcher, giving up 3 runs and not a single one of them earned but that's exactly what Trevor Cahill found himself doing in the opening game of a three game series. It took a little while for the Toronto bats to come around but finally in the bottom of the 4th the Jays got the bases loaded and Navarro came through with a clutch double clearing the bases. The Jays would find themselves in need of some insurance though as Danial Norris game into the game in the 7th inning and gave up 2 runs making it a close 4-3 game, however the offense was able to produce a little more putting across 3 more runs in the final two innings. Steve Delabar and Brett Cecil worked scoreless 8th and 9th innings to secure the win for the Jays.

QUICK HITS
  • Steve Delabar was called up by the Jays to add an extra arm into the bullpen, Delabar was able to be recalled due to the injury to Justin Smoak
  • Bautista hit his third homer of the season a two run shot in the bottom of the 8th
  • Pompey and Travis once again did not play, though they have been working on strength and conditioning
  • The Braves came into the series with the leagues worst rated offense and managed to put 10 hits up on the Jays
  • R.A. Dickey will take the mound tomorrow against Julio Teheran in what should be the premier matchup of the series

Re: Down To Business | A Toronto Blue Jays Franchise

GAME TWELVE RESULTS

...
ATLANTA BRAVES (2-8)
VS
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (7-4)

JAYS OFFENSE MIA
TEHERAN BAFFLES THE BLUE JAYS HITTERS IN COMPLETE GAME 3 HIT SHUTOUT

TORONTO, ON (AP) - The Toronto Blue Jays were looking for answers all game long against Julio Teheran as they managed to only get 3 hits, and between base running blunders and a double play send up the minimum 27 batters. Both Bautista and Donaldson were out of the lineup on a scheduled rest day before the series finale and start of the Orioles series. Jose Reyes left the game in the first inning after hurting his leg on a slide into second base, however luckily for him and the Jays it is nothing serious and he could be back in the lineup for the Orioles. Dickey pitched 8 strong innings giving up only 2 runs in what lived up to the hype as a great pitchers dual, Dickey also received his first loss of the season.

QUICK HITS
  • The Jays continue to look for options in the infield and will potentially be bringing in extra help from the minors
  • Tolleson had no hits in yet another game and has yet to contribute a hit this season
  • Valencia moved over to 3B in today's game after playing 1B to start the series and where he is expected to play most games
  • Delabar made his second consecutive appearance and gave the Jays another solid inning of no hit baseball
  • Minus Reyes the Jays should have their full compliment of players tomorrow when the series wraps up
