Guetterman, Reed, Wilkinson combine for 3-hit performance. Yeah one of the three was a homerun, but it wasn't enough and Guetterman gets the win. The biggest note from this game is that the 3-4-5 combination of McGwire, Davis, and Canseco went 0-11. This is going to be a scary line-up, for a while, with McGwire and Canseco being 23 and 22 years old. Presley made an error today, but it didn't cost us anything, and he was 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored. He continues to be the most reliable bat and may have to be moved up in the order. Davis hitting .214 isn't a scare, yet. We might start looking for a right handed bat that can give him a day or two off to get himself straight again. The next game will be tomorrow with Bankhead(M's) facing off against Stewart(A's).
Minus Harold Reynolds the bottom of our line-up is outplaying the top. Hitters 6-9 had three of our four hits today. Something is going to have to change in this line-up. Side note about the A's, Eckersley is a bad dude. We do not want to get into situations in which he will decide the game. His stuff is nasty. A couple of our hitters got into an average that starts with .1xx today. This is not a trend we want to keep, but Diaz is playing well enough in the field to stay there. Kingery hasn't made any plays that are forcing us to keep him in the starting line-up. I know it is very early in the season, but some of our batting is worrying. Tomorrow night's game will be our ace, Langston(1-0) vs. Nelson(1-0).
Im loving the website. I might use it for my WWE chise
if you need one with a little more than the free site gives, let me know. I used to teach a class that used these websites and I have access to give out around 80 that have a little more function than the free ones.
The Mariners were under their 90 man roster by two and have signed two very promising individuals from the free agent pool. (This was before the minor league schedule started, but I forgot to add it in). Enrique Guzman is a 20 year old SP that comes in as a 60 OVR. He will start the year in AA. Andres Corona is 19 years old and plays 3B, for now. His defensive set looks like a better fit for 2B. But, he is a 75 OVR and has a great bat for a 19 year old. He will start off in AAA, but if the bats stay cold, he could find some AB's in the bigs very soon.
The Mariners managed to get 10 hits today, but could only get 1 run out of the effort. Three of those hits came from Mickey Brantley who was 3 of 4 on the day. Langston pitched very well in his first complete game of the season only giving up three hits. But, the A's were able to get two runs out of those three hits. With this series over, the A's are of to Houston for a series against the Astros and the Mariners will go to L.A. to face the Dodgers. Game 1 starters will be Moore(Seattle) and Belcher(L.A.).
