SERIES PREVIEW

TORONTO BLUE JAYS(11-24) VS SEATTLE MARINERS(15-19)

BLUE JAYS prepare for struggling MARINERS in Canada....

The Jays are turning their attention on the Mariners as the 2 teams set to begin a 3 game series in Toronto. The Blue Jays are coming off a 3 game series loss to East rivals, Tampa Bay Rays.

The Blue Jays have some hitters in the lineup.

Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, Steven Pearce, and former Mariner himself, Justin Smoak. Behind the plate is Russell Martin.

The Jays continue to struggle thanks to a very poor Pitching rotation in 2018.

The Jays starting Staff is a overall 6-10.

"Baseball is a long season and we're in a funk right now. We just need to figure out how to get out of it." Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons stated.

The Mariners are treading water as they come into Toronto. General Manager Lou Piniella has called up Ichiro and Dan Vogelbach to boost the lineup.

Nelson Cruz leads the leagues in Homeruns with 19.

Mitch Hanigar, Kyle Seager, and Mike Zunino are providing long balls and RBI's as well.

"We're up and down this year. Still a long way to go." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

The M's are coming off a Series loss to the Angels.

Looking at the numbers, the Mariners should take the Series in Toronto.

But anything can happen in Baseball just like any sport.

PITCHING MATCHUPS

Erasmo Ramirez(3-2) VS Marcus Stroman(0-5)

Felix Hernandez(1-4) VS Aaron Sanchez(1-1)

Toronto, ON- The Toronto Blue Jays(11-25) we're ice cold tonight in their Series Opener with the Seattle Mariners(16-19).

The Blue Jays failed to get anything going against right hander Erasmo Ramirez(4-2) who dominated the Jays on the mound.

"I felt great with Ramirez on the mound. He was pitching a masterpiece tonight." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

Ramirez went 7 strong innings with 10 strikeouts. He only allowed 1 hit and 2 runs.

The only 2 runs the Jays scored was a Homerun blast by former Mariner Justin Smoak.

It cut the lead 3-2.

The Mariners Mike Zunino blasted 2 homeruns that put Seattle up 4-2 for good.

In the 8th, Seattle(16-19) turned the ball over to Nick Vincent who allowed no runs for his 6th hold.

Then the Blue Jays(11-25) met Edwin Diaz in the bottom of the 9th. He closed the door by striking out the side for his 12th save of the year.

"Kid's a flamethrower. Great Closer." Servais stated with a smile.

Blue Jays Marcus Stroman(0-6) continues to struggle a year after winning a Gold Glove.

"Just a funk I'm in. Rough time for all of us." Stroman said.

He lasted 6 innings allowing 10 hits, 4 runs and 4 K's.

"We didn't play well at all. We had no offense." Jays Manager John Gibbons stated.

The Blue Jays will try to even the series tomorrow when they face the struggling Felix Hernandez(1-4).

Hernandez continues to slump as BLUE JAYS rally to beat MARINERS....

Toronto (12-25)21000030X690

Toronto, ON- The "King" continues to struggle. Felix Hernandez(1-5) is a shell of his former dominant MVP self in 2018.

"I'm not the Pitcher the team needs me to be. I'm much better than this." Hernandez stated.

Hernandez went 7 innings giving up 9 hits, 6 runs, and 2 Strikeouts.

To his defense however, Mariners Manager Scott Servais may have left him in much longer than needed.

The Mariners rallied for 4 in the 6th inning off Homeruns by Kyle Seager and Nelson Cruz to take a 5-3 lead.

"I talked to him between the innings and we both felt good about letting him continue." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

It proved to be fatal.

In the bottom of the 7th, Blue Jays tied the game with a Randal Grichuk 2 run blast.

"We needed that. Been off and on so far this year." Jays Manager John Gibbons stated.

The Blue Jays took the lead for good 6-5.

Felix Hernandez(1-5) is in a bad slump this year. His ERA is a eye popping 7.45.

SERIES PREVIEW

SEATTLE MARINERS(17-20) VS DETROIT TIGERS(10-28)

MARINERS look to turn things around vs rebuilding TIGERS in Detroit...

The Detroit Tigers(10-28) is in the middle of a rebuild. Gone are the days of the Central Division Champions. Gone are the days of Playoffs. The Tigers last playoff appearence was in 2014 where they we're swept in the ALDS by the Baltimore Orioles.

The Tigers spent 2015 and on in the middle of the pack winning no more than 86 games. Detroit officially entered Rebuild Mode last year where the club finished with a 64-98 record.

The Tigers come in dropping 3 of their last 5 as the club struggles to find an identity in 2018. Detroit has an interim Manager after Brad Ausmus was shown the door.

The Mariners(17-20) are coming off a series win in Toronto over the struggling Blue Jays. Seattle hasn't seen playoffs since 2001 and the rebuild continues in 2018 with Lou Piniella in the front office calling all the shots.

Seattle's Scott Servais is on a Contract year and should Seattle fail to make the playoffs for the 17th year in a row could find himself out of a job by winter.

Second Baseman Robinson Cano stepped in and blasted a HR over the right field wall that put Seattle up 1-0.

It would be the only score for the rest of the game.
