2022 MLB Draft update and roster moves

Comes quickly June 1st and we enter the draft with the 4th pick for the 6 rounds proposed by MB The Show.

Our first pick goes with what we see, according to our scouts as the best hitter remaining in the board. Steven Casilla from Dominican republic, he is a 1st baseman but his arm strength for me is wasted at B i see him as potential 3rd base or corner outsidelder.

The next two picks are used on two position players prospects which both look decent with C potential. Now our steal in this drfat comes at the 4th round where we draft a young fella from Michigan named Johnny Hood and who looks like a pretty good RHP prospect.

The last two picks looking pretty bad on two pitcher on which we had pretty much no information (blind bids).


For Pirates the early June is as well the time for some roster moves.

RHP Roansy Contreras suffered a torn Labrum and his season looks over. Contreras was doing pretty well for a rookie with a 3-5 record on 12 starts, with 71.2 IP, 3.01 ERA and 2.93 FIP.

To replace Contreras in our rotation we called up RHP Bryse Wilson from Triple A Indianapolis. Wilson has 16 carreer starts in the Major he spent 3 seasons with Atlanta and earned a 5.35 ERA in 74 IP.

Another injury has been with C Michael Perez who suffered a separated shoulder and should be out a couple of months. Before his in jury Perez made the best of his 46 at bats hitting for 5 HR including a game winner against Rockies.

Not really convinced by the options in the minor and considering it was too early to call up prospect Henry Davis I decided to look at the free agency and decided to sign veteran Jonathan Lucroy. He is not anymore in his prime but he still a valid option at the bat and can fill the gap.
