SAN ANTONIO
– The San Antonio Spurs went cold from three point range and were routed by the Denver Nuggets in the first game of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 35 points, and Nene chipped in with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, matching Tim Duncan's production.

"If Nene is going to play Tim to a draw, this is going to be a short series," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said after the game.

After taking a 9 point halftime lead, the Nuggets opened the second half with a 13-2 run to take control of the game. The Spurs hit just 8/25 three point attempts (32%) for the game, while Denver shot 46% from 3. Shane Battier went 0-10 from the field including 0-6 from 3 point range.

After the game, Nuggets coach George Karl said, "We came here to get two games, the key will be not to be complacent when we come out for Game 2."

SAN ANTONIO
– The Spurs were able to survive another onslaught from the Nuggets last night at the AT&T Center, tying up the series at 1 game each. Tim Duncan turned in a vintage performance with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocked shots. "This was a must win game for us," Duncan said after the game. "We knew we couldn't afford to go to Denver down 0-2."

After taking a 7 point lead to end the 3rd quarter, the Spurs went on a 9-2 run to open the 4th, only to have the Nuggets respond with a 10-2 run of their own. After J.R. Smith got a backdoor layup to draw to within 1 point, Tony Parker hit 1 of 2 free throws to stretch the lead to 3 with 43 seconds left. Tim Duncan was unable to capitalize however, missing a short hook shot. Chauncey Billups had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but his 3 point shot drew the front iron and SA escaped with the win.

Thanks for reading Blakjak, yeah it's going to be interesting to see what happens in Denver, this Nuggets team is TOUGH TO STOP when they're on offense. Carmelo + JR Smith + Nene + Billups are offensive monsters!
