Alabama A&M Bulldogs (5-4) @ Winston-Salem State Rams (5-2, 1-0)
Lawrence Joel Veteran's Memorial Coliseum Annex
Coach Lee's private pre-game thoughts:
"Well, we played well against UAB and came up short. The Rams have a good record here early in the season and we know we can't overlook them. Their schedule is nowhere near as tough as ours, but to be 5-2, you still have to go out and earn victories."
This game would be a disaster for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Things looked promising at the start as they would hold a 7-3 lead and Cornelius Hester appeared to be in the zone early on. Things would turn ugly quick though. After holding the early lead, Alabama A&M would give up a huge run and fall behind 43-13 going into the half. Not a lot of bright spots for the Bulldogs obviously, but Cornelius Hester did have 9 points. For the Rams, Ricky Bolton had 9 points and Brandon Hobbs had 8. The Rams out-rebounded the Bulldogs 23-11 in the half.
You wouldn't think that things could get worse for the Bulldogs in the 2nd half, but somehow they managed to. The Bulldogs offense actually looked somewhat better, but the Rams just wouldn't miss. The end result? A 95-47 victory for the Rams. The Rams would hit 14 of 22 3-pointers and would also dominate the boards, out-rebounding the Bulldogs 39-25. Ricky Bolton would score 26 points while Marcus Wells and Andrew Jackson would each score 14 apiece for the Rams. The Bulldogs would be lead by Cornelius Hester with 20 points and Adam Young with 9 points, 10 rebounds.
Coach Lee's comments:
"This was a horrible game for us. They dominated us in every way possible. I know we're tired from being on the road all the time, but we have to put forth a better effort than we did tonight. This was especially tough for me tonight as my dad was in the stands watching us get destroyed. We have a lot of work to do before our next game and not a lot of time to do it as Auburn is in just a few days."
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs(5-5) head to Auburn Arena to take on the Auburn Tigers (6-2). Coach Lee is hoping that she can remain undefeated against the SEC.
