Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
Nice to see the Highlanders back on track.
How's recruiting look+what are you losing of importance? Curious to see what the future holds, if you even stick with the Highlanders.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
UC RIVERSIDE SLIPS PAST LONG BEACH STATE, 70-64 UC Santa Barbara bounces back but Cal Poly falls Jan. 23, Riverside CA - UC Riverside had to rely on its two stars to gain past Long Beach State, 70-64, after being behind most of the way. Bryson Hampton and Jaron Gilmore scored more than half of the Highlanders' total output after the 49ers clamped down on serious ball defense in building a seven-point halftime advantage. Hampton had 22 points to lead all scorers but was 8 of 20 from the field. Gilmore stepped up to finish with 21 plus a game-topping 14 rebounds for a double-double perforance good enough to earn him "Player of the Game" honors. Daniel Mcbridle led the49ers and likewise was on a double-double 16 and 11 while sharpshooter Elvin Siebrandt added 14. The Highlanders will take on next the Big West reigning champions Cal Poly Mustangs, who went down in defeat against Cal State Fullerton, 85-75. The Titans led by the 25 points of Tommy DeLeon were up 48-38 at the half and never looked back. Frane Martin came off the bench to score 24 points while Fats Brewer had a double-double afternoon with 13 and 10. Hubert Poole led the Mustangs with 20 while Jonathan Biggs and Demario Henry, who also grabbed 10 boards, contributed 15 and 14 respectively. In a pair of easy victories, conference leader Pacific dealt UC Irvine a severe beating with an 81-63 rout while UC Santa Barbara rebounded from a two-game slump with a tireless 70-58 win over UC Davis. Michael Nunnally asserted his inside game with a commanding 22 points and 10 rebounds. Hos sidekick Wesley Morales was a monster himself with 12 markers and 13 boards while nifty Terrell Smith added 15. Torrance Gardner led the Anteaters with 19 points, 14 in the first half alone, but was hardly a factor when it counted most as Peyton Bradshaw and Walter Detrick rotated effectively against him. Antjuan Arnold added 15, 12 of which coming from the 3-point area. Rookie point guard Deantoine Bishop led a balanced Gaucho attack against the hapless Aggies. Bishop scored 13 while big men Scooter Satterwhite and Louis Hull added 12 apiece. Big West star Justin Meadows finished with 11. Joe Harden led the Aggies with a game-high 22. UC Davis, however, would come back last night in a battle of cellar dwellers outlasting Cal State Northridge, 92-84. Tony Tabler and Joe Harden were on fire scoring 23 and 19 respectively for the Aggies, who had lost six straight. Ira Santos and Woody Patterson both had 13 for the Matadors while main man Floyd Arline contributed 12 points and 10 boards good for a double-double. Long Beach State was the big loser this week going down in defeat again this time to Cal State Fullerton, the big winner, over the weekend. Tommy DeLeon again led the Titans with 17 and together with Rob Andrew and Harold Skeeter, both had 16 apiece, and Ja'Ron Singleton with 14, they kept the 49ers' rally at bay after Elton Siebrandt sizzled late in the second half. Siebrandt finished with a game-high 20 while big man Cozell Irvin contibuted 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
UC RIVERSIDE LOSES THRILLER AGAINST CAL POLY, 82-80 Highlander bench scoring still an unresolved issue Jan. 28, San Luis Obispo CA - Hubert Poole sank a basket from left quartercourt to quash a late comeback by UC Riverside en route to an 82-80 win. Jonathan Biggs called for Poole popping out of a screen and Poole did not disappoint with 3 seconds left in the ball game. UCR still had one last opportunity after Everett Carlisle heaved a long pass to Jaron Gilmore but the 7'1 center, who was a little over the 3-point arc, had his shot jumping in the rim then out. The Mustangs led by 8 at the half, 45-37, thanks to an unbelievable shot from way inside the backcourt by Darwin Sandoval just before time expired. The Highlanders were stubborn all night until a late rally ignited by Carlisle and Bryson Hampton woke them up alive. Downed by 10 going into the last 5 minutes, they had the chance to take the lead with about a minute left but Hampton missed a jumper from the left baseline setting up the Mustangs for a clear out with point guard Biggs. Biggs, who led Cal Poly with 22 points, opted for Poole instead of Cory Carmichael, who has been almost unstoppable from medium range with 18 points, and the Highlanders were not expecting that. Poole added 10 while Shawn Lewis had 11. Hampton, the Big West scoring leader, also finished with 22, Gilmore had 15 markers and 12 boards, Carlisle contributed 15 and dished out 8 assists while Jalonni Diggs contributed 14. The Highlanders will take a short rest and jumped on the bus again for a road trip to Davis to play the UC Davis Aggies tomorrow, January 28, where they are favored to win but Coach Raymond Rose need to get more out of his reserves. The Cal Poly Mustangs found an antidote to the Highlander offense by clogging up the middle and the UCR bench failed to respond. Moreover, Hampton was seen limping towards the end of the game and was diagnosed with a sore knee. He is ruled day-to-day but may play against the Aggies and the much-improved Joe Harden.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
UC RIVERSIDE SUFFERS ANOTHER WORSE DEFEAT IN BIG WEST UC Davis Aggies smother hapless Highlanders with a 71-48 rout Jan. 28, Irvine CA – The UC Davis Aggies led by Joe Harden rampaged and massacred its visitors, the UC Riverside Highlanders, at the Pavilion in Davis blanking them for at least seven minutes before routing them for an imposing 71-48 victory. Harden scored a game-high 20 points on top of 8 rebounds as he went unopposed with a seemingly lackluster Highlanders team. Up 31-26 at halftime with both teams putting pressure on defense, the Aggies poured it on relentlessly in the second canto as the Highlander defense developed cracks. At one point, the lead went up by 28 as the UCD offense went unstoppable and the UCR guns continued to fire blanks. The Highlanders finished with a miniscule 30% shooting from the field and was badly outrebounded 27-44. Troy Tabler added 14 points for the Aggies while Marco Flores grabbed a game-leading 14 rebounds. Jaron Gilmore and Jalonni Diggs led the Highlanders with 12 and 10 respectively. Big West scoring leader Bryson Hampton was limited to his lowest output this season, 7 points. In other games, UC Santa Barbara pulled away from UC Irvine in the final five minutes to win 87-82 to the disappointment of a capacity crowd at the Bren Events Center. Justin Meadows had a game-high 21 points including 11 of 14 from the free throw line. Torrance Gardner led the Anteaters with 17 but most of them coming when everything has been settled other than the final score. At the Spanos Center in Stockton, Pacific bucked a late rally to hold off Cal State Northridge, 76-72. James Lang shot 17 points for the Tigers but it was Peyton Bradshaw and Terrell Smith who came to the rescue when the Matadors led by Woody Patterson came back to threaten. Bradshaw and Smith had 14 and 12 while Patterson led Cal State Northridge with 17 points. Floyd Arline outshot perennial Big West best center Michael Nunnally 16 points to 6 but Nunnally came back with a game-high 11 boards.

Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
PACIFIC MEETS UC SANTA BARBARA IN BATTLE OF BIG WEST GIANTS Four teams logjam at 4-4 after end of first round Jan. 29, Irvine CA – Conference leading Pacific will clash with second-running UC Santa Barbara in what could be a preview of bigger things to come in the Big West. This will be the fist meeting between the two giants and the setting will be at the Alex Spanos Center in Stockton. There will be two points of interest. First is UCSB superstar Justin Meadows and Pacific nifty guard Terrell Davis. Second is, which could end up as the determining factor, is the battle inside between Gaucho twin towers Scooter Satterwhite and Antonio Fortson against the Tigers indefatigable tandem of Michael Nunnally and Wesley Morales. Bleacher reports have the game even at press time. Meanwhile, Cal State Fullerton has racked up its third straight win, this time against UC Davis, 85-75, at the Pavilion. The Titans starring Ja’Ron Singleton were never threatened after posting a commanding 45-30 at halftime. Singleton finished with 21 points while the usually defensive Fats Brewer had an outstanding performance on both ends, 13 markers and 13 boards. Frane Martin came off the bench and added 12 while Harold Skeeter grabbed 12 rebounds as the Titans outrebounded the Aggies, 44-36. The Aggies were led by Troy Tabler with 21 points but sorely missed the contributions of Joe Harden, who was hampered with foul trouble and ended up with only 4. Cal State Northridge bounced back from earlier defeat against Pacific with a close 78-74 decision over UC Irvine at the Bren Events Center. Floyd Arline asserted his supremacy inside with a double-double performance, 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Matadors were ahead comfortably by 14 midway of the final half until streak shooter Torrance Gardner drilled in eight unanswered points to close the gap only to be held at bay by the tower of power tandem of Arline and Alberto Gonzalez. Gonzalez and reserve forward Oscar Enzweller both ended up with 12 points apiece. Antjuan Arnold was the game's top scorer with 21 while Gardner and Trey Harris had 17 and 14 respectively for the Anteaters, which had lost three in-a-row. After the UC Riverside massacre came the Cal Poly annihilation. Long Beach State, which las lost twice in succession, got back in the winning track with an 80-59 demolition of Cal Poly much to the delight of the home crowd at the Pyramid. The defending Big West champions Mustangs were in the game midway in the first half until main men Cory Carmichael and Demario Henry went into early foul trouble. Forward Shane Lewis and back up Emanuel Paschel followed suit after the 49ers continued to pound inside. True enough Cozell Irvin dominated the middle, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Daniel Mcbridle and Elvin Siebrandt added 16 and 14 respectively while 7’2 sophomore Adrian Blackmon also had a double-double 11 and 11. Jonathan Biggs led the Mustangs with 11. Re: Raymond Rose Legacy
Tough loss to UC Davis. How do you feel about the team heading into the second half of conference play?
