Re: Mile High Madness | A Denver Nuggets Association (NBA 2K12)
Shootout in San Antonio
Nuggets overcome 23-4 deficit to win 129-119
San Antonio, TX (AP) -- In the blink of an eye it was 23-4. The Spurs hit 11 of their first 12 field-goal attempts including two three pointers and had the Nuggets in a big hole. San Antonio built a 30-13 lead before Denver finally got going, as they outscored San Antonio 14-8 to close the quarter. The Nuggets still trailed 38-27 after one quarter of play. San Antonio scorched the nets to the tune of 69% shooting in the opening frame and also shot 3/6 from three. Richard Jefferson and Manu Ginobili combined to score 17 of the Spurs 38 points on a combined 7/11 shooting and accounted for all of the team's three point makes and attempts.
Manu Ginobili's 37 points weren't enough for the Spurs
Both teams were on fire in the second quarter as the Nuggets outscored the Spurs 39-32 to make it a 70-66 game. Denver shot 15/24 from the floor and 5/7 from three in the second as the Spurs shot 12/23 and 3/6 from three in the period. It was a Tyler Hansbrough and-one that broke a 72-72 tie and gave Denver their first lead, 75-72, with 8:24 to play in the third quarter. In a nip-and-tuck third quarter, Denver outscored San Antonio 30-25 to hold a slim 96-95 lead heading into the fourth.
It was the Tyler Hansbrough show down the stretch in the fourth quarter as the 6'9" power-forward scored 14 points in the final six minutes to extend the Denver lead to as much as 10 points, and that was the final margin of victory for Denver as they won 129-119. Overcoming a 23-4 deficit early, Denver more than earned their 22nd victory of the season.
