Bringing the NBA Title to Bluff City - Memphis Grizzlies Association

MITCH KUPCHAK HIRED BY GRIZZLIES

Mitch Kupchak has been hired as the new General Manager of the Memphis Grizzlies after Grizzlies owner Robert Pera fired Chris Wallace. Kupchak is a highly respected GM after a highly successful 11 years as the GM of the Los Angeles Lakers as he masterminded a number of deals that saw the Lakers win two consecutive NBA Championships. One of those deals saw Kupchak trade for Pau Gasol who played for the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis know Kupchak well and know he can get deals done that assure success.

GRIZZLIES TRADE FOR BOSH ; SIGN GREG ODEN

Newly appointed Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Mitch Kupchak has wasted no time in settling down to do business as he has pulled off a big trade with the Miami Heat. Power Forward Chris Bosh is now a Memphis Grizzlies player. Bosh arrives from the Miami Heat with Power Forward Zach Randolph and Point Guard Gilbert Arenas going in the opposite direction. The Grizzlies have also taken Miami's 1st round pick in 2012.

This deal suits both teams well. It works out well for Memphis in both the short and long term. Bosh is younger than Randolph and can provide more on the court than Randolph. A second 1st round pick in 2012 for the Grizzlies can allow them to add depth to the roster with youth. As for the Heat, they get a player in Randolph that can play in the role that Bosh had, essentially maintaining the 'big three'. Arenas also adds strength to the Heat at Point Guard where the Heat can now use Mario Chalmers as the Sixth Man and as an impact player as they can trust Arenas to get the job done. However, this deal only gives Miami a short term boost and could very well be the factor that wins them the NBA Championship.

The Grizzlies have also brought in Center Greg Oden, to fill the roster spot vacated during the trade with the Miami Heat.

2011/12 NBA SEASON TIPS OFF - OPENING NIGHT PREVIEW SPECIAL

The 2011/12 NBA Season kicks off tonight with a Triple-Header live on TnT. The 1st game of the triple header sees the defending NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks welcome the 6-time NBA Champions Chicago Bulls to the American Airlines Center. Dallas will be wanting to pick off where they left off in 2010-11 but come up against a strong Bulls team that are being tipped to go all the way this season which gives us a great game to kick off the season.

In the second game of the triple-header, the Utah Jazz host the Houston Rockets at the EnergySolutions Arena. Both of these teams are young and will be pushing for a respectable season. The Rockets have more experience in the lineup and will be looking to use that against a very young Jazz.

And in the final game of the night, Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder travel to Los Angeles to face Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at Staples Center. The Thunder and the Lakers are arguably the best two teams in the Western Conference and are two entirely different teams. In OKC, its all about the Youth with a team that has Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka in their lineup. The Lakers are all about experience mixed youth as Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace link up with Andrew Bynum and Ramon Sessions in a team who like the Thunder are title contenders which makes this game very interesting.
