Gasol scores season high and Jamison scores 22 off the bench as Lakers win four straight

TWCSN PLAYER OF THE GAME: Antawn jamison (22 PTS, 7 REB)
The Lakers wrapped up their two game homestand with a matchup against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night at STAPLES Center.  The Lakers came into the game having won three straight and have held their opponents to under 100 points in all three games.  The Pistons (0-3) came in having lost the first two games of their season, but were looking to overcome the odds and pull of the upset against the Lakers especially with power forward, Jason Maxiell suffering back spasms and playing through a great deal of pain it was evident that the Pistons needed a healthier Maxiell to have a chance to win this one.  Entering the fourth quarter the Lakers held nine point lead and went on their way to a twenty point victory over the Pistons, the final 118-98.  Pau Gasol led the Lakers with a season high 24 points and pulled down 7 rebounds while Antawn Jamison, off the bench for the Lakers scored a season high as well, 22 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action.  Kobe Bryant chipped in with 19 points and Dwight Howard added 18 points and 7 rebounds along with 1 block shot.  The Pistons were led by shooting guard, Rodney Stuckey who finished with a team high 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the loss.  Greg Monroe recorded a double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Brandon Knight added 15 points.  No other Piston player reached double figures.  The Lakers dominated the boards again, taking advantage the Pistons lack of height in the post, scoring 24 points on second chance points compared to the Pistons who finished with a mere 8.  The Lakers will get ready to head back out on the road for a matchup with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday then return home for a six game home stand beginning on Friday against the Golden State Warriors.

Game Notes
The Lakers travel to Salt Lake City for their first matchup of the season against the Utah Jazz.  The Jazz (0-4) are not off to such a great start losing their first four games of the season.  The Lakers (4-0) have started out winning their first four games as interim head coach Bernie Bickerstaff has the Lakers playing much more looser and playing together.
keys to the game
  • Good looks; hit the open jumper

  • Sky high; multiple offensive opprortunities
  • Run n gun: easy transition points

  • Control tempo; try to jump the guns
  • Make the offense react; distrupt the timing

  • Crowd noise; feed off the fans

Fourth quarter play is Lakers advantage to fifth straight win to start season

TWCSN PLAYER OF THE GAME: metta world peace (17 PTS, 5 REB, 2 ast, 2 stl)
The Lakers execution in the fourth quarter against the Utah Jazz was as spot on as anyone could have drawn it up.  Tied up on the road in Utah after three quarters, the Lakers utilized every advantage in their arsenal and it didn't miss one beat as the Lakers outscored the Jazz 28-17 in the fourth quarter on their way to their fifth straight win 98-87, their second road win of the early season.  The Lakers have started the season with five straight victories, turning heads once again who nearly two weeks ago were questioning the moves made by management during the offseason.  It wasn't Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant or Pau Gasol, but the untalked fifth man in that starting rotation, Metta World Peace, who was able to provide the needed offensive support for the Lakers to take the game.  World Peace led the Lakers with a game high 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while Kobe Bryant added 15 points and blocked 3 shots and Dwight Howard finished with a double double, 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Al Jefferson led the Jazz with a double double of his own, tieing World Peace with a game high 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Mo Williams added 16 points and 4 assists as the Jazz lost their fifth straight game to start the season.  The Lakers return home for their longest home stretch of the season, six games over the next two weeks, starting Friday night against division rival, the Golden State Warriors.

What formats are you asking about buddy. You mean the layouts? It's the dynasty tables here on operation sports and then I copy and paste the html into Microsoft Expression Web 4 or into Notepad ++ which I use for my html editors and then just mess around with the html til I have it the way I pictured it. If you have Mozilla Firefox web browser and download the web developer toolbar extension and the html table extension that would make things very easy for you because you could basically see the whole page with all the html and all the layouts and then pick and choose which you want to use and leave out.

Warriors firey second half dooms in Lakers, snaps winning streak at five

TWCSN PLAYER OF THE GAME: stephen curry (28 PTS, 3 REB, 6 AST, 1 stl)
It wasn't quite the way the Lakers wanted to start their longest home stand of the season, but it's always easier to get that first loss out of the way even though when it snaps a five game winning streak as the Lakers had experienced after a 113-100 loss to the Golden State Warriors at STAPLES Center.  Golden State, a pre season pick by many to challenge the Lakers for the Pacific Division and for a top spot in the Western Conference playoff picture were led by their dead eye shooting point guard, Stephen Curry who finished with a game high 28 points and dished out 6 assists, while hitting 8-14 shots from the field including 3-6 from the three point line and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.  David Lee finished with a double double, 20 points and 17 rebounds and Jarrett Jack added 19 points off the bench for the Warriors who got a very rare victory on the road in Los Angeles.  Pau Gasol led the Lakers with a team high 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Metta World Peace finished with 18 points, hitting 6-13 shots from the field while Kobe Bryant had a difficult time getting anything to go down, finishing with just 14 points on 5-19 shooting from the field and Dwight Howard was held to single digits with 9 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.  Antawn Jamison was the only bright spot off the bench, putting up 17 points, hitting 6-9 from the field.  The Lakers will continue their home stand with a matchup on Sunday against another divisonal opponent, the Sacramento Kings.
