Timberwolves Sign Brown

Minnesota -- Today the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that they have signed former North Carolina State point guard Lorenzo Brown to a 2-year contract with an option for the 2nd year. Brown was drafted with the 52nd overall pick by the Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA draft.

Brown, a 6'5" guard from Roswell, Georgia, played for NC State from 2010 to 2013. He started all three seasons and led the Wolfpack to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 2012 and 2013. As a junior, Brown averaged 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in assists with 7.2 per game. At the close of the season, Brown was named second team All-ACC.

Brown will wear jersey number 7.

Waiters Leads Wolves Past Heat

Recap | Box Score | Highlights

MVP: Dion Waiters. Waiters scoring barrage continued as he dropped 29 on the Heat including 18 4th quarter points after the Heat rallied back to tie the game up. He also chipped in 7 rebounds and 9 assist, almost notching the triple double.

LVP: Ray Allen. Allen got the starting nod with Wade out with a broken wrist and was only able to produce 9 points in over 30+ minutes of action. The sharpshooter went 3-of-9 from the field and a shocking 3-of-6 from the charity stripe. Allen also failed to hit a three pointer missing all three of his attempts.

X-Factor: Lorenzo Brown. The 2nd round pick finished with 7 points, 3 boards, and 6 assist in his first NBA game. The 6'5 point guard also made life hard for Mario Chalmers and Ray Allen the few times he guarded him. J.J. Barea could see some of his minutes taken away.

Rookie Watch: Anthony Bennett and Shabazz Muhammad. Bennett was second in scoring behind Waiters finishing with 18 points and 6 rebounds in the win. In 9 minutes off the pine Muhammad scored 9 points on 50% shooting from the field.

Minnesota Makes It 4 Straight With Win Over Boston

Recap | Box Score | Highlights

MVP: Dion Waiters. Since the Kevin Love trade brought him to Minnesota, Waiter has been playing like a man on a mission. His 28 point and 5 rebound performance led the Timberwolves to their 4th straight victory. Maybe Cleveland should've held him out of the deal.

LVP: Jared Sullinger. Sullinger tried to go head to head with Bennett all game long and his field goal percentage took a hit because of it. Sullinger only shot 4-of-12 from the field.

X-Factor: Ricky Rubio. Rubio flirted with another triple double by finishing with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 dimes. He was the x-factor on offense but he dogged it on defense, something coach Adleman won't appreciate.

Rookie Watch: Anthony Bennett and Kelly Olynyk. Bennett finished with a nice double double dropping 22 points and grabbing 12 boards in 36 minutes. Fellow Canadian Kelly Olynyk scored 17 and pulled down 15 points in 35 minutes of action.
