Rockets sign Free Agent Center Javale McGee

HOUSTON - Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed Free Agent Center Javale McGee to a one-year deal.

The deal is worth $3.46 million for the year.

This was a panic move by the 0-2 Rockets, as starting Center Dwight Howard is currently sitting out with a sprained ankle.

McGee (7'0, 270, Nevada) played 6 games for the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.2 minutes of play, after being traded by the Denver Nuggets. He was waived at the end of the season.

McGee will have to be pushed straight into the starting lineup, replacing Howard until his return.

Can't Get RIGHT!

He's a FA in my dynasty, too. I wanted to sign him, but I already have Nate Robinson and if I unite those two on one team, I can't be sure what might happen.

A panic signing by the Rockets, indeed. But a really fun one.
