Houston, This Guy Is a Problem: Making the Case for Darius Player

Player is no stranger to putting the team on his back


When I say "MVP" what names come to mind? Adam Cameron? Of course, he has won three of the last four. Ryan Stafford? Understandable. Brandon Lewis? He's a beast. What about Whakil Blackshear? He led the Sixers to another title last year.

Try this name: Darius Player. Player is the star for the Houston Rockets, and he does it all. With the other lead scorer on the team, Quanzell Waters, out for the past two weeks, Player has averaged 27.2 points over that period, which is almost four points over his season total. The Rockets have won seven of those ten games.

Houston went 43-39 last year and Player finished fifth in MVP voting with one single vote. The Rockets currently sit at 12-4 and get Waters back in a week or so. If Player can continue his production, he is my dark horse for MVP.
