February 15th Review.

Grizzlies go 4-3 heading into All Star Break, Garnett makes first All Star Team.

February 15th, 1996 | by ESPN.COM

After an outstanding last 2 months of growth, and a positional change to small forward, Kevin Garnett is a first time All Star. Garnett has been moved to small forward recently to cover for the injured Rick Fox. Garnett has been having more of an influence on the team playing on the wing. The move faciltates Kenny Gattison starting at Power Forward, as Gattison has grabbed a number of double-doubles in recent weeks.

The addition of Larry Bird has also been part of the reason for the change too. Bird plays primarily Power Forward now as we all know Larry was never the fastest, playing the 4 allows Larry to have space to get his shot off against slower big men. Garnetts performance has been a major shining light for the Grizzlies this year as high school kid. Some of his best performances in February came against the 76ers where he had 19 points 13 rebound, 5 assists, 1 steal and a block. Against the Kings he had 14 points, 7 rebound and 7 assists. But both of those teams are bottom feeders.

Performances like a 13 point, 11 rebound and 6 assist game against Grant Hill are far more impressive. His tour de force this month was against the East #6 seed Indiana Pacers, where he had his first triple double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. A real sign of his development so far. Larry Bird has been good in limited minutes for the Grizzlies so far too. He can certainly still shoot the ball as he has scored 16 vs Phoenix, 18 vs Philly, 19 v Sacramento and 15 v Miami were some of his best nights.

The trade deadline is here tomorrow and it will be interesting to see what the Grizzlies do. They are currently 12th in the West, 5 games behind the #8 seed Portland. While it is not mathematically impossible, it does look improbable that the Grizzlies make a run at the #8 seed. The Grizzlies fan interest is extremely high with the addition of Bird and Magic, but they need to now weigh up whether they push for a playoff spot in their first season, or settle in around the worst 5 spots in the league to get a chance at adding a top prospect in the NBA draft this summer.

The Grizz have a number of players who have impressed around the league so far, namely Byron Scott and Kenny Gattison. Darrell Armstrong has generated a lot of interest but it would take a very good offer to get Vancouver to move him. It is very obvious that Garnett is the foundation here in Vancouver, and GM Mitch Kupchak needs to continue to shape this roster around him.

Re: #WeTheWest: Vancouver Grizzlies Story

Have decided to put this one on pause everyone, I am waiting for a 95-96 Mod to be released on NB2K20. I way prefer playing 2k20 over 2k17. I will finish this season out on 2k17 and then pick up the 96 season on 2K20. For the moment, I want to pick up on a new story. Its from NBA2K10 but I will be playing it on 2K20.

Looking forward to when this returns! Really makes me want to try a retro season. Love the jerseys and how you went about the expansion.

Re: Bulls win title #4 behind MVP Jordan.

No surprise that Jordan won it all again, Denver seemed to give him a challenge though. Orlando was super-close to upsetting the Bulls.
