Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Training Camp:

Already mentioned I signed both Darren McFadden and Laron Landry to 1 year deals, so I'll start with that. Both will be 3 million on the cap this year, and I'll look to sign both to LTCs.

Rookie Signings:

Signed RG Tyler Fordham to 5 year, 10.6 million dollar contract, 2 million signing bonus.

Signed LG Rondell Owens to 4 year, 2.7 million contract, 500K bonus.

Signed FS Sanrick Raines to 4 year, 2.1 million dollar contract.

Free Agent Signings:

Saw Vernon Gholston was in FA, so I signed him to a 1 year deal.

Trades:

You can get a lot of value from Gholston if you trade him, so I did just that. I could have had him as a average OLB or a very good DE, but I got more in trade.

Traded Vernon Gholston to the Seahawks for 2010 1st and 2011 3rd.

Traded Terrel Suggs to the Cardinals for 2010 1st and 2011 7th.

Traded RE Tony Bake to the Raiders for 2011 2nd.

Traded LE Chris Kelsay to the Jaguars for a 2010 2nd, more than he was worth.

Traded LG Mo Sellers to the Jets for a 2011 3rd.

Traded FS Kelin Johnson to the Falcons for a 2010 3rd.

Traded SS Donte Whitner to the Chiefs for a 2010 3rd.

Traded RG Brad Butler to the Redskins for a 2011 3rd.

Traded HB Jamaal Charles to the 49ers for a 2011 4th.

Season Goals:

Trade HB Jamaal Charles-already met

Trade RG Brad Butler-already met

Increase Tony Gonzalez's Play Knowledge to 25%-I''ll fail this, since I always fail TE PK goals.

Increase Darren McFadden's Play Knowledge to 27%

Increase Laron Landry's Play Knowledge to 44%

Add 10 new plays-I'll fail this, since I have my playbooks like I want them.

Further Season Goals:

Play Tony Gonzalez 50 downs.

Play Darren McFadden 50 downs.

Play Laron Landry 50 downs.

I'm just before the 1st preseason game, so I'lll be doing that for a while. I might do a Roster Overview in the meantime, though.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Not going to say a whole lot tonight; just a brief regret about not trading for McFadden. He was signed to a very inexpensive rookie deal, about 4 million a year. I simmed ahead and he was asking for a minimum of 58 million over 6 years, with a 30 million signing bonus. I hate giving up 1st round picks, but I should have made the trade. I'll know better next time.

So will you open the piggy bank and give him the big bucks, or trade him for some primo draft picks?

I'll sign him to the LTC, I don't think I'll see a lot of Elite (95+ Overall and Potential) HB's along the Zazzali Path. I've currently got about 38 million in cap space, but I should have a lot more once I get rid of all the cap penalties. I'm actually pretty well set up on draft picks the next 2 years.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

I've got both Playbooks to Mastered level, so I went ahead and supersimmed all 4 preseason games, going 4-0 in the Preseason.

Preseason Game 1-Bills 19, Giants 9

Doucet-74 receiving yards, McFadden 57 receiving yards, Steltz & Ikegwuonu INT's, Serna 3-3 FG.

Preseason Game 2- Bills 42, Panthers 14

Brewster-73 receiving yards, Landry-INT, Okoye-2 TFL, sack.

Preseason Game 3-Bills 17, Lions 10

McGrath 2 INTs, Campbell sack, Doucet-Torn Triceps(Out 4 months)

Preseason Game 4-Bills 34, Ravens 31

Johnson-3 TDs, 272 passing yards, Lynch-102 receiving yards, Stroud sack.

Preseason Promise-Finish above .500

Season Goals:

Beat Dolphins in Week 2

Crush Dolphins on Monday Night in Week 2

Win first 3/4 games

Re-sign CB Terrence McGee

Re-sign FS Laron Landry

Re-sign K Rob Bironas

Re-sign HB Darren McFadden

Win Offensive Rookie of the Year

Win Coach of the Year

Bring DC Gary Hammermill back

The Doucet injury means a lot of pressure will be placed on Bennett and Brewster this year. I'm split on whether to re-sign McGee, Deanthony Nails has almost as much talent.

I'll post the 2009 roster next.

Can't believe Gary Hammermill is your DC...I've never seen him come up when filling a coaching position...he's always an HC.

I'd keep him as my DC just to keep him off my schedule.

I've never had him as a DC before either, he always seems to be hired as a HC. I think the key to getting him is the number of HC firings you have in the 2008 season. I normally have 5 or 6, and one of those teams hire him. This time around there were only 2. DC Rex Ryan was promoted to HC and DC Clancy Pendegrast became a HC. There were no HC openings, so Hammermill was eligible to be a Coordinator.
