Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

I made 2 final trades before I started the regular season:

1. I traded a 2010 2nd and 2011 2nd to the Chiefs for CB Mike Jenkins. It seems like it might be harder to draft Pro Bowl-level CBs on the Zazzali path, so it was a price I was prepared to pay. I had 2 2nds in both those years, so I'll be OK.

2. Traded CB Terrence Mcgee to the Lions for their 2010 4th and 7th. I failed the re-sign goal, but the acquisition of Jenkins made him superfluous.

3. Mike Jenkins is now the 1st CB, Deanthony Nails is the 2nd CB, and Zack Bowman is the 3rd. I decided to go with Nails over Bowman because of Bowman's injury problems.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

I went ahead and played the 1st regular season game, beating the Saints 33-10. I used Middle Blitz extensively and Willis had a monster game with 9 sacks. I took Reggie Bush out of the came completely, but Brees had over 400 yards passing. On offense, Johnson had 200 yards passing and 60 yards rushing. McFadden had 100 yard rushing and a TD reception, so he was the other big star on offense. I did end up kicking too many FG's though.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Game 2-Bills vs. Dolphins

My rushing game was in full effect, as Josh Johnson and the 2 RB's generated over 200 rushing yards. I didn't quite have the pass rush I did the first game, but I still managed to get some pressure. McFadden had a electrifying 80 yd run as he simply outran all the defenders on a sweep. I beat the Dolphins 48-30.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Game 3- Bills vs Broncos

Had simply a dominating game vs. the Broncos. I managed to contain Cutler under 200 yards, limited Brandon Marshall to 30 yards receiving, and took their RB out of the game. The Broncos did a good job of containing McFadden, but Johnson picked up the slack with 119 rushing yds and 2 rushing TDs. Campbell and Willis both had 3 sacks on defense, and I even managed to pick up a safety in the game. I had my first shutout of the season in a 47-0 whitewashing of the Broncos.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Currently 3-0 as I enter the bye week period, so I'll do a brief review. Rushing game between Johnson, McFadden, and Lynch is simply dominant: too many weapons to stop them all. Passing game needs some work; hopefully that'll pick up as the season goes on. I'm getting a lot of pressure from Campbell and Willis, I'd like to see Rivers get more involved in pass pressure. I've been able to shut down the opposing team's RBs so far, no one has gotten over 30 yds the first 3 games. I gave up a lot of pass yardage the first 2 games, but I liked the results I got in the Denver game. INTs have been down early in the season, but I hope that will pick up as well.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Just a couple notes on the resignings I did after the 4th games vs. the Texans:

1. Re-signed FS Laron Landry 91/94 to a 6 year, 22.2 million dollar contract, with a 4 million signing bonus. It escalates 3.0-3.2-3.5-3.7-4.1-4.4 million on the cap.I met the owner goal in re-signing him.

2.Re-signed K Rob Bironas to 3 year, 5.1 million dollar contract with a 1 million signing bonus. It escalates 1.6 million-1.7 million-1.8 million on the cap. I met the owner goal in doing so.

3. Darren McFadden proved to be a major headache in re-signing. I got him to move down from Offer 32 to Offer 24 on the first negotiation, but I expect I'll have to make concessions to make him move further down.

As far as the game goes, I beat the Texans 34-7. Josh Johnson had 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing for the 2nd straight game, and Earl Bennett had 3 TD catches. On defense, I continued to apply pressure as Willis had 3 sacks and Campbell and Rivers had 1.McFadden is an elite HB, but I'll definitely look at next year's HB draft class.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

Before I get to the Jets game, I'll mention some moves I made after the game. McFadden was asking the sun, moon and stars; so I traded him to the Cardinals for their 2011 pick. I hope the Cardinals don't get too good too soon, I got their 1st round picks the next 2 years. I used the money I had planned on spending on McFadden to resign my RE E. J. Ray.
I re-signed Ray to a 5 year, 25.5 million dollar contract, 4 million signing bonus. The bonus is modest enough I can trade him if a better RE comes along.

Now to the Jets game: it was almost over before it began. I steamrolled to a 45-0 lead after 3 quarters and never looked back. My defense had a bit of a letdown in the 4th quarter, but the game was never really in doubt. I cruised to a 55-21 win over the Jets to move to 5-0 on the season. I face the Colts next week, so I might face a difficult challenge there.

Re: Circling the Wagons Once Again:Another Buffalo Bills Dynasty

So the Buffalo Bills won't go undefeated this season. We went into Indianapolis with a full head of steam; only to be disappointed by Reggie Wayne and Bob Sanders in a 29-24 loss.
Sanders had 3 INT in the game and Wayne had over 200 receiving yards; both were named Players of the Week. I removed Johnson after his 3rd INT, but Woodson didn't do any better. The 5-1 Bills will face the Panthers next.
