UConn returning to the Big East

This is surreal. Our seven-year stay in purgatory finally has an end date.

Wild that this story leaked late on a Friday night.

Huge improvement in Conference tournament.

Besides that I'm indifferent at best. Much like the American there's like 3 teams I'm excited to play, and they are teams we have been scheduling ooc anyway.

Re: UConn returning to the Big East

I wouldn't say I'm excited to play everyone, but outside of DePaul I'll look forward to every conference game. Annual home-and-homes with Nova and GTown will be awesome. Playing Providence, Seton Hall, and Marquette as second tier/less intense rivals is a hell of a lot more exciting than playing Temple, Wichita State, and SMU. I cared about no one in the AAC; I was never excited for a game in six years. Cincinnati didn't do it for me, neither did Memphis. Even the more traditional mid-major types like Butler, Xavier, and Creighton are at least basketball schools; those will be fun games for me.

The big pieces here are that the days of playing several conference games in front of 3,000 fans will be over. No more football schools whose fanbases don't care about basketball. I'm excited to not be 1,000 miles away from 2/3 of the damn conference. I'm thrilled to go to the BET at MSG again. This should also make recruiting significantly easier for Hurley.

Man, possibly joining that MAC in football. If they don't win that conference, it ain't worth it.

I believe by most metrics we are the worst football program in America. I think we were the worst defensive team in the history of college football last year (I don't know for sure, I'm not a CFB fan, but I recall seeing that on Twitter).

I wouldn't be surprised if they were a middle of the pack team in the MAC, at best.

Oh I know. I just have it stuck in my mind that a decade ago, this team was in the Fiesta Bowl. And now they're probably gonna be playing Eastern Michigan on a Tuesday night on ESPNU.

I would agree with everything you said above except the part of AAC schools care more about football then basketball. Name one. All of the "banner" AAC schools care way more about basketball.
UC, Memphis, Temple, Houston.
The exception is probably UCF.
Man after looking at the schools in the AAC again, UConn should be excited to leave that ****ty conference.
