Week 8 Discussion

Hard to believe we're already into the second half of the season. Pretty good week this week.

We get started early with Ohio State-Penn State. A couple of ACC games (Duke-Florida State and Clemson-Miami) along with USC-Utah close out the day.

Of course, my attention will be on the Third Saturday in October between Tennessee-Alabama. Should be a completely different game from last year's shootout.

We ran really well agains a good Texas A&M defense last week, but I don't see us repeating that against Bama. Milton is going to have to hit some passes downfield. And our defense is going to have to pressure Milroe, because I still don't trust our secondary. Protecting Milroe has been a problem for Alabama though.

Miami has shown a lot of growth this year and looks the best they have 90% of the time. The issue is the 10% is killing them. 9 turnovers in the last 2 games, yet lost by a combined 13 points.

The decision to not kneel was awful and makes the 4-2 a lot uglier than the 5-1 it should be. Clemson will be tough. On paper Miami should be able to score enough to win given their offensive prowess and Clemson's poor offense, but I'll believe it when I see it. If the turnover bug keeps biting them then they'll lose for sure. Also looks like TVD may be hurt, so freshman Emory Williams may get his first start which could be interesting.

You mentioned the halfway point of the season. In doing my computer rankings, I looked at a few things just to check some curiosities out.

1. Auburn has beaten two FBS teams. These teams are a combined are 4-11, and oh yeah they beat Samford.
2. Arkansas has beaten one FBS team that is 1-6 and also beat Western Carolina.
3. South Carolina beat one FBS 3-3 team and beat Furman.
4. Miami OH might be 6-1, but their opponents are a combined 13-28.
5. Fresno State might be 6-1, but their opponents are a combined 12-28.

Pretty sure there are tons more, but these really stood out.
