Who do you think chose to play Todd and Tate over Burns and Fannin? I'll give you a hint; he's not on the Auburn staff as of yesterday. As I said before, if he was building something, it'd be one thing, but he wanted his boy to play. His boy sucked.

I wonder how this affects recruiting. Seems Auburn would have lost ground on the bruising backs since they are running the spread, and now, with no clear idea on offense, the spread guys they were gonna get may have reason to look elsewhere
From the Auburn topic:

"Of our top offensive recruits, only the QB is a pure spread player.

If most of our lower tier offensive players decommit, it's because we pulled their offer. Literally, of the bottom 5 or so offensive players we have, the best offers are Wake Forest, and most only have Sun Belt alternatives. I've been adamantly against their recruitment, so this isn't a case of "we didn't want him anyway", but some of these players literally have nowhere to go. It's not like these kids are going to decommit and go to Alabama or LSU. It's decommit from Auburn and go to Tulsa, South Alabama, Troy, Southern Miss, LMAO, or UAB.

This offense was supposed to bring us the big time QB and WR commits. It didn't. It did lose us the big time RB players and OL, but I honestly believe that we can recruit on equal ground with Alabama on those, given that we've done it against Alabama, LSU, UGA, FSU, and Tennessee for the past several decades. Franklin was the overreaction to Saban. Tuberville needed to be a man, but he acted like a female. Now it's his turn to man up."

Overreaction to Saban? He's out recruiting Tuberville. Tubs had rather be duck, or OC hunting than recruiting.

I would like to see RichRod do this. I don't know why running the spread is considered so difficult that coaches can't sprinkle in traditional formations - particularly if your personel is more suited to it.

RichRod walked into a very tough situation - a ton of great offensive talent leaving and the players left behind were young and not suited for the spread. This year feels like he is trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. I know it will get better as he gets players more suited for his scheme but the transition is downright ugly at times.

It seems like a lot of coaches are trying the spread like it's some magical scheme that automatically scores points for you. It's a good system but requires a good QB. I certainly wouldn't use an offense that revolves entirely around the QB position if my QB sucked.

Re: Auburn OC Fired

Franklin was a gimmick hire to begin with. Tubbs was trying to level the playing field with recruiting against Saban and it failed miserably. It doesn't matter who Tubbs hires, he is not going to out recruit Saban. It's showing for the 2nd straight year.

The big thing that RichRod had going for him is that this was a complete rebuilding year. While I'm sure it is still disappointing, Michigan did have to replace everyone and philosophically restructure the defense. However, he does have a history of success in BCS conferences, but Michigan's situation is the big difference between him and Franklin.

Auburn is in a win now position. With one of, if not the best defenses in the country and returning 10 players, we couldn't really afford to **** around, especially when Franklin is clearly playing inferior players and had no idea what he's doing.

Saban's mind control powers are really starting to have an effect on our rivals!
