That was what you intimated. The NCAA has no real burden of proof. It's not innocent until proven guilty, in fact it's actually the opposite.

Things do not look good for Miami, and considering Shapiro was disclosing this information as part of his deal with the feds (according to the Yahoo author) I suspect he's being pretty straightforward.

As Paul Dee said, "high profile athletes need high profile compliance".. If 10% of these accusations are true, or even remotely true Miami will get LOIC, and quite possibly be considered a repeat offender, which is about as bad as it gets.

You don't need a source, just use your common sense -- In any other walk of life can you be penalized because you should have known about someone doing something bad? If your girlfriend is a serial killer, can you get put in jail because you should have known she was out killing people every night when you thought she was at work?

No, but guess what? In the NCAA you can get in trouble for not knowing what you "should have known". And nobody but the NCAA determines what you "should have known". And you can argue it until you're blue in the face with the NCAA, but they have their stance on what you "should have known" and nobody can change it.

USC got in trouble for that and that Paul Dee quote I just pasted pretty much sealed Miami's fate there too.

I think that's the most frustrating part. The guy who literally nailed USC to the wall, worse than other schools have gotten for actual booster sponsored pay for play schemes turns out to be the worst offender.

I say let Pat Haden chair this committee.

All well said. Everything you've said has been right on the money.

again, the NCAA had corroboration. they had hard evidence that backed up what was said.

Doesn't really fly, otherwise tOSU would have gotten the hammer. They've succeeded in arguing that Tressel was the only one that knew of the violations. Institutions should be responsible for the ones they hire; that's just a fact of life for any business that hires people.

bkrich83 this isn't exactly what you asked for but it illustrates how I think about this:

Doesn't really fly? What? Dude, I'm not pulling this out of thin air. Read the USC infractions report. The NCAA didn't have proof that ANYONE at USC knew of the violations. Only that they should have known. What happened at OSU only proves the inconsistency of the NCAA. I think most people would agree their situation shows an LOIC.

Paul Dee has already made it clear that Miami should have known. It's already been made clear that Randy Shannon knew. There's enough there to lay down the hammer. It's going to depend on how much of the 72+ allegations are true and how big of an example the NCAA wants to make out of Miami.

I think Miami will get hit hard and I think you're pulling what you're saying out of thin air.
