Dragging it out does absolutely nothing for UT. If UT was guilty of this stuff going on, you could bet your *** they would settle as soon as possible. Jones has never denied that he contacted Bowles....just the opposite, he has been very open about it. Bowles has changed his story twice already. At first he gave deposition to the Grand Jury that Jones protected him from the beginning.....and now it's a totally different story during this civil case.

While I didn't suspect anything fishy with the police up there, I do now kind of wonder if they aren't getting the TPD treatment up there as well.

Based on the phone records it is clear that the police called Butch several hours BEFORE they went and searched the reported crime scene. The first thing the police should have done was go to the room and try to collect what ever evidence they could before it could be destroyed.

But no, their first thought was to let the coach know what was going on.

That just reeks of protection.

That being said unless they could prove what was actually said there is really nothing there

Butch Jones's response to the article from the Tennessean


Anytime we have a disciplinary issue with a player, we have as many conversations as needed with players, parents, law enforcement, whomever until we can be sure that we are making the best decision possible,” Jones said through a statement. “These are decisions that can be life-changing for these individuals. Honestly, I was not aware that KPD did this, up until now. I don't like it and would prefer that the normal course of action is to secure the location, then alert the school.

The schools are really in a no-win situation here.

I feel like cops contacting the coach first isn't uncommon.
