Re: College Football Off Topic

I think it's more of a teaching/execution/development type thing, similar to the Michigan situation. Hoke was bringing them in and doing nothing with them, Harbaugh comes in and suddenly all those players are good again

It reminds me in CBB...Dino Gaudio for WFU got great recruits to come (who seriously wants to come to Winston-Salem? It's boring here! ) but he was a terrible coach who made questionable decisions in crunch time; frankly not a good X/O guy.

With Miami...will the challenge be getting the recruits or simply finding a HC that is a great teacher/coach? It may be an ignorant question but Miami is in a much different place than 10 years ago.

Spoiler
Butch Davis was a great recruiter but i believe his one knock was he was so so at game management. But he set the foundation. This generation in South Florida grew up Canes fans because of the teams he put together so now all we have to do is win and they will come. One of Goldens problem was he tried to change players to match his system instead of changing his system to match his players and just being to conservative. Players come to Miami hoping to play fast and downhill like the teams they idolized growing up. Instead they are thought to two gap, line up 5 yards and back pedal another 5 at the snap, and have two or three different assignments each play.

Tbh, my dream coach would be Gruden or even Butch. But realistically, i wouldnt mind Fuente, Doug Meacham at TCU, and Mark Stoops.

I don't think that's ever going to be an issue. Even with Golden being as crappy all around as he was, they're only one of 15 schools to recruit a top 15 or top 20 class during his tenure. He only faced one team in his 4.5 years that recruited better than him, FSU. Despite yesterday's loss, Miami has out recruited Clemson. The defense is all 4 and 5 stars. Guys like Amari wanted to play at Miami, but Golden always wanted lesser talented guys who worked hard to even have a chance.

Get a real coach in and there's no reason this team can't turn around as quickly as UF. Miami is in the most fertile grounds in the nation. Broward and Dade alone account for a good portion of NFL players. IIRC, the city of Miami has nearly twice as many NFL players as the next closest. Al just liked to turn those guys away. He wasn't interested in Dalvin Cook or Amari Cooper, what more needs to be said?

Re: College Football Off Topic

There's only two things that hurt Miami in recruiting.

1. Bringing in the wrong kids

2. FSU and UF both being good as well.

They might lose a kid here or there out of state, but when the big 3 are good almost nobody gets out.

Broward/Dade and Bell Glade are the 3 hot spots in the state. Miami has the advantage in 2 of those, UF in the 3rd. You can make an argument for Lakeland, but I still feel those 3 are ahead.

The crazy thing is there is enough talent for all 3 and then some. Golden didn't lock down Broward or Dade at all and still has had rosters that should've ran away with the division. Last year's team had 7 guys get drafted and probably wins the ACC with a good staff.

If Miami makes a good hire for the first time in nearly two decades, it'll be interesting to see how the recruiting in the state goes. With UF on the rise, and then Miami too, I'd imagine they'd(all 3) lock the state down fairly well and Bama, LSU, Georgia, etc. wouldn't have as much success in the state anymore.

Butch Davis is on the radio practically saying give me the job now. One could only wish. Would be a home run hire from an excitement standpoint. The program would have more buzz than its had in 13+ years.

He said he already has a plan on the staff he would bring in.
