I believe USC's George Farmer beat DAT in the 100M or 200M state championships in high school, don't remember the exact details. Still DAT is obviously the better football player, but fastest man alive? No..

Do Duck fans like the OP think the Ducks have always been nationally relevant?

2010 team way better
50+ ppg
600+ yards offense
Chip Kelly was best coach out west
La'Micheal James + Kenjon Barner better than DAT
Huff + Tuienini (or however you spell it) killed it every game
Darren Thomas was most efficient qb in FBS they were unstoppable until BCS

I was referring to Archer in that clip. But I do remember coming across that about Farmer. Hopefully he rehabs well and comes back strong.

Many new fans seem to believe Duck football has always resembled the Kelly era even—they don't even go back as recently as Nike and Phil Knight showing up after the '95 Rose Bowl, and Harrington.

They don't connect with the fact Oregon football was a lot of losses, a pile of dirt called Autzen Stadium, and not much else.

Thomas couldn't carry Mariotta's jock. They're not even close.

James and Barner better than DAT? Not sure. They're all in the same ballpark.

Sorry to rain on your party, but Chip Kelly is gone. That will have a impact.

That's what people said when Bellotti left. It did have impact they got even better than they already were. If there's a negative impact for Kelly leaving it won't be in year 1. It will be further down the road.

Re: Will This Be The Greatest Oregon Team of All Time?

I'm not so worried about Chip Kelly's absence this year as how some of the assistants will do. It's as talented a group of players as I've seen at Oregon, and there is a ton of continuity throughout the coaching staff—which was one of the keys to the Kelly era.

My real questions about the coaching staff are how Scott Frost will do as the OC, but I know he has been part of the program for a while now and has a lot of respect from players, and command of the system. Also how Ron Aiken will do replacing Azzinaro. He was a coach who got a ton out of generally mediocre d-line talent in his time with the Ducks. Oregon's system on both sides of the ball is very mature, and it will be a matter of seeing how the staff remain effective caretakers of it.

Mariota must stay healthy. Word out of camp is he's showing something really special. As he goes the Ducks go. The other unanimous camp info is on the d-line jumping out as a special unit. Most interesting is how this is echoed by Rob Mosely, who has covered the Ducks for a long time with the local paper, and is now an in-house reporter for UO. Soph. DE DeForest Buckner has people very excited. He's the backup to Taylor Hart, but he's 6'7" and a legit 280+ with some tremendous athleticism and has been tearing it up.
