Wow, Bortles with what might be the play of the game!

Three-possession game with under five minutes left now. I think this one might be over. UCF has dominated in the fourth quarter.

I did not see this coming. I underestimate the motivation factor once again. When will I learn?

I don't think Baylor was unmotivated.. it was their first BCS appearance too. I just think good Defenses are better suited to handle long layoffs than potent offenses. It took a couple of drives for Baylor's offense to get going and UCF was able to capitalize

Not to mention all of the penalties

I don't necessarily say it because it's their first appearance. I say it because Central Florida probably got tired of hearing about how they were a 17 point underdog. Baylor probably heard too much about what big favorites they were and it seeped in that they were just going to show up and dominate. I don't at all say it because I believe Baylor didn't care about winning.

That's certainly a possibility. It's impossible to determine how these kids will come out and play sometimes. It makes it fun to watch though

Warbortles used Hydro Pass. It was super effective.

Re: 2013-14 Bowl Game Discussion

The Big East/American is now 3-0 in its last 3 BCS games (though UCF is the only BCS winner that will still be in the conference next year...).

I think there were a few factors tonight. UCF is well-coached and their defense bent, but did not break tonight. I mean, yes, it broke quite often, but against Baylor, it bent enough to be effective. There were also a ton of possessions tonight, so the 42 points wasn't quite as shocking as it would be in a normal-paced game, IMO. In addition, I think UCF was more motivated, but I'm not sure if this was really a deciding factor.

I think, quite importantly, Baylor's undisciplined behavior finally caught up to them. They've been horrible as far as penalties go all year (worst in the BCS), but they still managed to win, except for the Oklahoma State game. You can't really blame their penalties tonight on biased officiating. Those pass interference calls were pretty blatant and there's really no arguing with their ridiculous amount of illegal formation and false start penalties.

Also, the Big 12 was a bit of a dumpster fire this year and Baylor was probably overrated.

UCF did a great job at controlling the clock, especially in the second half. I was impressed by how they weathered their three-turnover barrage in the first half; I thought it was going to get out of hand until Bryce Petty threw only his second interception of the year in the end zone. Even so, UCF lost the turnover battle 3-to-1.

Baylor's defense was pretty pathetic tonight. It's hard to overlook that fact. Bortles was great in the second half. He looked the part after his initial struggles with the pair of interceptions (granted, only one of them was truly terrible).

I'm quite surprised by the result, but I love seeing underdogs win these games, so I loved it.
