To be clear, I fully understand that Herman will more than likely leave for a better job. I'm just not sold on the notion that LSU is the best situation he will be offered.

Texas, USC and Notre Dame could all be in play by the end of the year. All three of those are better jobs than LSU, if for no other reason than the fact that they wouldn't be in the same division as Saban.

Re: 2016-17 Coaching Carousel - The Tom Herman Sweeptstakes

I started to get into college football during the 2007-2008 season as LSU claimed their National Title, pretty funny timing huh? When I think of LSU, I think of Les Miles, so it's pretty wild to think that doesn't exist anymore. But like many, I saw this as mostly inevitable instead of probable. I even created a dynasty last year in NCAA 14 where I fired Les for basically the exact reasons he was fired for & took over the Tigers. LSU is a power program & one that expects to compete for national titles every year, I can respect that.

Definitely enjoy reading the "could be" scenarios some of you guys write up. There's really only two coaches I'll comment on: David Shaw of Stanford and Bobby Petrino of Louisville. I don't think Shaw will leave Stanford. Would he have a higher ceiling at LSU, yeah probably. But, Stanford isn't just about that program..it's Stanford. The connections and opportunity he builds at his alma matter for himself extend far beyond the playing field and I doubt that is something he'll give up. Second, Petrino. Honestly the guy should give LSU the shot if he gets the call, what does he have to lose? Louisville isn't really an A rated program, though we do have A rated players year in and year out. This seems to be our year, next year, I don't know. The year after, no idea. Over time, I think it would benefit him to give LSU a shot...and that's coming from a Louisville fan.

By the way, anybody have any thoughts on Purdue's coaching duration? How long can we honestly keep Hazell who has shown no progression in the program & cotinues to be a punching bag in the B1G...even to teams like Illinois! I thought his seconds were numbered in our close game against Nevada, but we managed to squeak out the win and his job for another week.

LSU should be blowing up Petrino's phone.

I was told on another board that Petrino's buyout is upward of $10 million. If true, scratch his name off the list.

Remember how no one wanted to touch Petrino after his motorcycle adventures? Now, a little winning and all is forgotten...have to love big time college football!

It also might be in a different perspective after what's happened at Baylor.
