I have the PS3. My 19 year old son is nipping at my heels to trade it in and get the new Elite 360. I know I am going to take a bath on the trade in ($300 for system).

Are the new Elites experiencing the RROD errors? Is there any advice you PS3/360 owners would give me on the swap? To be honest, we do not watch alot of dvds, and the only games fired up for the PS3 are MLB07, MLB2K7, and once in a while my son will play APF2K8. I still play NFL2K5 on the orig Xbox.

After reading what I wrote, it sounds like a no-brainer. He wants to play Halo 3 online, and Madden online (ugh!!). Plus other games like Call of Duty, NHL, NBA 2K, etc.

I guess what I am asking is, do you think the new Elites will be trouble-free enough that it is worth the gamble? I think it is a no-brainer as far as games available that will be played is concerned.

I just bought an elite and the 2 year warranty from Best Buy. They said they will exchange it on the spot if it doesn't work, including the controllers.

Also, I went on Ebay and picked up NBA 2K7 ($6.18), Ghost Recon ($4.00), Battle Stations Midway(9.99(, Forza 2 ($20), Gears of War ($26). Thats a whole lot of gaming for the money.

Give Craigslist.org a shot before you trade in the PS3 for a measely $300 @ Gamestop. I sold mine for $440 including one game.

Honestly guy. Tell your 19-year old that if he wants one he should go out and purchase it himself. And also tell him that he needs about $50 a year for his online habits.

He has a job guys...and is in college full-time. he works about 25 hours a week.

I have a friend that bought an Elite in May and has had to send it back to M$ a few times already for repairs of some sort. I don't know if it's the RROD issue or what. Kind of surprised me though. I bought my regular 360 last Fall and haven't had any issues (knock on wood). I think he plays his a lot more than I do. Whether that means something or not I don't know.

I'm not about to give you advice on what to do/ or advise you on how to raise you son, that's your business, which is not what you ask for. Why can't posters give a little respect to posters questions? Go ahead and bash, seems to be the norm lately and it's not cool. Anyway I think the Elites as of late are pretty safe. Just make sure you get a warranty from GS/EB games. Good luck and Peace!!!
