360 - HDMI Vs HD AV Component Cables

What's the main difference between the two? Does the picture quality reduce if you use the Component Cable with HD Vs an HDMI cable?

I know an HDMI Cable has both picture sound, but I was curious if there were any other pros or cons between the two?

HDMI is ALWAYS the first/best option.

Picture quality should be similar with one big difference. No upconversion over component cables. Upconversion only done via HDMI or VGA.

Like GC said, HDMI is your best, period. If you have the option, you're silly not to use it.

Thanks.

The headphones I got for the 360 play through the speakers and headphones when I use HDMI. But when I use the component cables it only comes through the headphones.

I couldn't really tell the difference when playing, but I'd rather go for best.

When I have the headphones on I can't hear the TV anyway. It was more for others at in the house at night.

Ummm why don't you just lower the sound on your tv ????? Seriously......Gaming headsets have their own volume control, you can put your tv volume on zero and still hear everything as loud as you want to hear it on your headset via the headset volume control.

Not with these. When I adjust the volume on the TV it messes with the volume on the headphones. If I lower the volume in the TV to 0 I can't hear through the headset.

Do you have it plugged to the back of your tv external speakers jack ?

You have the Turtle Beach X11's right ?

Yeah. I have the HDMI hooked up. I have the red and whites plugged into the audio out.

I don't have the Microsoft audio convertor or whatever it's called. That seems to be the issue.
