How the PS4 is shaping up to be the next must-own console

I'm not even ready for a new console. I'm still perfectly happy with my PS3, right now... and I've had it for almost 5 years...

I remember some of the pushback about having to get patches online. I can't even imaging the pushback from going all digital.

I cringe every time I hear talk of the next consoles coming out.
I'm still enjoying my 360. And it really worries me when developers say they've 'maxed out' current-gen consoles capabilities.
I have a hard time believing that. Especially when there are too many games that play no different than ones created 10 years ago. Only the graphics have improved.

Developers need to find a way to make unique and original content - not worry if I can see a drop of dew on a caterpillars butt.

It is going to be a while before we hear anything about the new consoles. We would hear way more rumors by now if they were to come end of this year, beginning of next.

They are still making tons of cash of the current systems, they still produce great graphics, and the motion controls were to extend the longevity a bit more.

I say 2012 you may hear an announcement for them to launch 2013 the soonest. That is if the Mayan's are incorrect.

Yeah, don't think we hear about new consoles for another couple years at least. When there is a PS4 though, they better improve the online aspect big time if they want to compete with Xbox. This is where the 360 really shines over the PS3.

We're still a few years away from the beginning of time for a new console to come out. I'd say holiday 2013 at the earliest for any type of new console launch.

The big rumor going around is that Sony shelved the PS4 plans to focus on the NGP after Intel's Larrabee flopped. It seems to make sense, considering how hard they are pushing the PS3-NGP interoperability.
