I'm naive and ignorant about this stuff. I guess I have two questions

A.) what's the endgame for these guys? What do they get out of this? Notoriety? Just some giggles?

B.) is there really not much these huge corporations can do to stop these kind of guys?

A: Pretty much, makes them feel important until the authorities come knocking.

B: You can mitigate, but there is really only so much you can do fiscally.

Yeah. Im not sure why they are calling this "Hacking" . Hacking IMO is when they breach security and firewalls and enter into an organizations private network and steal data and information. All a DDOS really is is a flood of requests to a system that overloads and overworks servers.

Here is my question, it might cost significantly more or be impossible, i'm unsure because I dont know networks like that. Couldnt they require some type of onion tunneling (Dark web like) for users to connect to make locating Servers to DDOS more difficult?

This is not hacking....They just flood the networks for both consoles with overloading information so that they become flooded with info and makes it hard to get on.

They are doing this to make Sony and MS use the money they make to improve the service we pay for which I can agree with but don't like to have to suffer for their agenda.

They don't have to attack Sony / MS servers, they can ddos infrastructure upstream that accomplishes the same thing.
