Re: Lan's Boston Bruins (NHL 09)

Unlikely Hero Propels Penguins to 3-1 Victory

Bissonnette, who scores so rarely that I couldn't find a picture of him celebrating, scored twice.

Boston (AP) -- This wasn't quite the home opener that the Bruins had hoped for coming into tonight's first game of a back-to-back. The lone bright spot of the game came just 4 minutes in when Ference scored on a shot from the point to give the Bruins their first and only lead of the night. What's even more deflating is the man who led the Penguins to victory with two goals on the evening was grinder Paul Bissonnette. Bissonnette is not known for his scoring touch at all, and in fact had all of 3 goals in 46 games in the AHL last season.

The Bruins Achilles heel continues to be their inability to convert on the power play. Their 0 for 6 tonight makes them 0 for their last 15 in the last two games! The Penguins pressured the Bruins all night forcing many turnovers and not allowing them many clean looks at Fleury despite the 6 power plays.

The Bs hope to rebound tomorrow night against the Buffalo Sabres. Manny Fernandez will be in net.

I don't think Buffalo fans will like this very much. I just noticed something on their lines before I start my game against them. The CPU apparently traded Thomas Vanek to the Predators for Jason Arnott.

That is so funny, LOL!

I missed the trade on the league news section so I'm not sure what was involved. I'll take a closer look at their roster next time I play one.

Knowing trade logic in EA games though it wouldn't surprise me if it was straight up.

edit: Confirmed it was indeed 1 for 1

Bruins Make Second Big Splash in Trade Market

Face of the Lightning franchise LeCavalier has been the subject of several trade rumors.

Boston (AP) -- If the acquisition of Keith Tkachuk wasn't enough for you, try Vinny LeCavalier on for size. The Bruins struck an agreement with the rebuilding Lightning franchise for the perennial all-star forward trading rookie winger Blake Wheeler, centerman Patrice Bergeron, and their 1st round pick in the coming entry draft. It was a hefty price to pay for the veteran but well worth it.

LeCavalier will likely bump Lucic off the front line and onto Krejci's line replacing Wheeler on the left wing. LeCavalier is expected to make the transition from center over to left wing to create a first line combination of LeCavalier-Savard-Kessel. This combination features all three components necessary to be a world class caliber line as you have the powerful snipe shot of Lecavalier, the finesse and playmaking abilities of Marc Savard, and the speed and creativity of Phil Kessel. LeCavalier joined the team this morning for the morning skate and is expected to be in the lineup.

Martin St. Pierre was called up to fill the needed winger position. The Bruins are right up against the salary cap with this acquisition so he was really the only one that could afford to be brought up.

LeCavalier will don the number 14 as #4 is of course Bobby Orr's number.

Lines:

LeCavalier/Savard/Kessel
Lucic/Krejci/Ryder
St. Pierre/Tkachuk/Kobasew
Axelsson/Yelle/Thornton

Tampa's lines are projected to be:

Ryan Malone/Patrice Bergeron/Martin St. Louis
Gary Roberts/Vaclav Prospal/Blake Wheeler
Jussi Jokinen/Steven Stamkos/Mark Recchi
Ryan Craig/Jeff Halpern/Adam Hall

Re: Lan's Boston Bruins (NHL 09)

Bruins Blow 3-1 Lead, Lose in Shootout

Pominville netted the game winner in the shootout.

Buffalo (AP) - There's nothing more frustrating than blowing a 3-1 lead on the road with 10 minutes to go in the game. The Bruins know this as that is how they lost today. After goals by Krejci and Chara in the 3rd period it looked like the Sabres had been put away. Cue up another sloppy 2nd half of a 3rd period for the Bruins and you can figure out the result from there. Bouck brought the game to within 1 with 7 minutes to go following a turnover by the Bruins defense in their own zone. Jocen Hecht tied it up with 2 minutes and 25 seconds to following a rebound that the Boston defense could not handle cleanly on a point shot by Sekera. Ference had the opportunity to clear but overksated the puck and Hecht cleaned up the mess.
