i guess this is like the rumor that was on nhl 24 last year, that you couldn’t skate backwards.

I am 100% in agreement. If we can edit Madden player ratings with the NFLPA, why can't we edit ratings for players in CFB that have opted in?

The issue people are referring to is with RTG players (The context is lost over time). When you create a RTG player, there are tons of "long hair" options, but most don't actually hang out of the helmet the way they would in real life. Ex: Travis Hunter has locs that barely peak out of his helmet. That same hairstyle on Madden 24 wouldn't show out of the helmet at all.

Some could say it's nitpicking, I would say it's attention to detail.

When I first heard that there wouldn't be editing like in NCAA 14 I was hurt by it. But then I realized that I'm getting a game back that I loved after 11 years. Sometimes you have to look at the overwhelming positive aspects of something versus the small amount of negatives.

Changing my prospective of not only this game but life in general has really help me be a more positive person overall.
I agree, yet there will always be a need for people to voice their displeasure vs accepting anything that is thrown their way. Everyone in here who buys the game on Day1 will be spending at least $65 on it. It isn't a situation where we can just sit back and say, "We should just be happy that we have a game."

Am I happy that we have a game? Yes. Did I assume there would be limits to player editing? Yes. Am I happy about these limits? No. Will I encourage everyone to voice their displeasure? Yes.

The game can only get better if we say what's wrong with it. We pay rent to have a place to stay but people still push back against rising prices when they have the chance.

These aren't the NIL opt ins I'm talking about even. I'm just talking about the fake recruits ratings.

I am disappointed in lack of ratings editing for NIL players, but supposedly ratings were named in one of the initial lawsuits against EA as part of "likeness." I don't like it but that alone wouldn't be and isn't a dealbreaker for me. The thing that doesn't make sense is ratings for randomly generated players.

This is is NTE answering directly a question about it. Fills in some gaps..... But also leaves a ton to be desired.

Personally I don't care about any of this **** other than equipment, so I'm fine, but I thought I'd share.

Unfortunately this is one of the biggest features for me and it is going to ruin the game for me if it's not there. I keep up with this thread because it is a great place to vent with other likeminded players. But I have already started to press EA on this using the channels you mentioned (not sure how to email them but I've tweeted and posted on their forums). I was going to wait until release and a 100% confirmation on these things but given what we've seen so far from the streamers I decided to go ahead and make contact if there's any way we can let them know how important these capabilities are to us the players and influence them to add it by release or in a future patch.

So far not 100% confirmed. People don't think it will be but according to the article in the first post of this thread it's still up in the air. These streamers are also playing test builds and a beta, so that's not the final version either, so there's a chance that even if ratings editing is 100% not in the build they are playing, it is possibly in the release version. It is also possible that it gets patched in if it's not in the release version.

Everyone has different things they hold of high importance. When I heard that we couldn't edit NIL players I was pretty pissed but after reflection I realized that restriction is at least somewhat reasonable given the legal implications. I figured "hey I'll just sim 4 years and then exercise full editing of all the fake guys." Then it looked like we wouldn't be able to change names or appearances of them. So I figured fine, if I can still edit their ratings that's all I need (I hadn't even considered number editing would be removed). But now that might not be allowed either.

When I play a sports game the first thing I do is spend 4-5 hours customizing a roster and making edits to teams across the board. Every 2 years or so into a franchise/dynasty I spend 30 minutes or so making additional edits to suit my preferences. This is one of the most impactful omissions they could have made *for me* for this game. Like even more impactful than not having Notre Dame (my alma mater) in the game due to not agreeing to terms, and even with measures in place to prevent me from recreating them in Teambuilder.

Like I try to be positive and by all accounts the other areas of the game look really great, albeit with some minor concerns here or there. I said back a few months ago things like "if this game is just a copy and paste of NCAA 14 from a dynasty features perspective but with updated Madden on field game play I will be thrilled," and when people were freaking out about the lack of announcement during the national championship game broadcast this year I was telling them to relax and I said something like "I will still 100% purchase this game unless they do something inconceivable like remove player editing" (I had Madden 25 in the back of my mind). Well now we're here and it's a possibility that the one feature most important to me might not be in the game. Adding all this new stuff is great, but not when they remove core essential features that are in every other major sports game. And again I understand the legal implications of not editing NIL guys, and even measures to prevent us from recreating opt outs and future opt outs. But there are better ways to do that and further editing ratings of fake players has no bearing on the legal stuff whatsoever.
I agree. I have been a lurking and even a member on this site back in the days. I remember this site when I was in grad school trying to get rosters for the latest college basketball or college football game. This is where I learned that I could take a PS2 (I believe memory card) send it to someone and they would return it with a copy of the latest rosters. Or direct me to a sight where I could use a thumb drive and download the roster for college hoops on my PS3.

I just stopped posting years ago and lost my username and after years of not playing sports games after the discontinue of College football and college hoops I decided to jump back in to see if i should purchase CF 25.

So I am no new member and am actually an old head. In saying that EA has no excuse for the recruits to have unrealistic attributes (like a 99 speed when compared to the NIL guys) or have 2/3rds of the generated people for the skill positions not match the ethnicities of real life. These are easy fixes that EA ignores purposely.

On top of that even if they were scared of getting sued an easy fix would be to say if you control the team then you can update only name, players height weight and position and not face and hair of generated characters. But if you don't control the team then you can only edit their face and hair. This eliminates being able to create real life players who opted out.

Thats like an easy fix that doesn't even take a lot programming wise.
