IGN Writer Tells It Like It Is On CFB 25. Your Thoughts?

I feel it was a very well written and fair article worth many of you checking out, if you haven't done so already. Many of these topics covered in his piece has many threads within this forum about very similar observations.

Personally, I love certain points made throughout, including the empty feeling in in game modes and not expecting anything and hoping for the best in future years. Good stuff.

So, how do you all feel on the article?

The ending is the perfect summation: "We’ll get ‘em next year, right?"

EDIT: I can tell the writer doesn't want to be overly critical, but he's disappointed that the game isn't what he thought it would be. Join the club.

On-field gameplay is great and you can tell they put a lot into the on-field product.

Off-field - Is where the game's warts show.

Still a fantastic game to play and I'm still playing about 2 games a night, so it's keeping my interest.

My opinion: On-field gameplay is amazing.

Some very critical bugs need to be fixed.

After that, this game is great for me, and I’m happy to play it until they add new stuff for 26 and make the modes deeper.

The quality of IGN reviews have gone down since the early 2010. There have also been accusations of IGN stealing other people's work and calming it as it's own and IGN taking money for reviews.

I would rather go to Meticritic and read a wide variety of reviews before determining if this is a good review or not.

I think this one is pretty spot on. I usually am not fan of ign reviews, but I think this one is fair. Overall, I like the gameplay to a degree, but the sim logic being broken, rankings being a mess, and a hollow dynasty feeling impacts the score for me. I think the game is a 6.

It stinks but there is no next year for me. This game either makes or breaks my yearly purchase of the game, and they do not have much time to get things right for me as a dynasty player

I’m willing to give CFB 25 a much more generous assessment than most. #1) The game is fun to play, and I really like the recruiting mini game in dynasty. It’s almost as much fun as playing. #2) Too many people are looking at CFB 25 as a continuation of the NCAA series from ‘14. It is not. It is a reboot of the college football genre. Too many people are like “why didn’t they just take 14 and add in to it”? That code is 10 years old and pretty much two consoles ago. CFB 25 is more Christoper Nolan’s Batman (a new version of an old story), than it is Star Wars: The force awakens (a direct continuation of a series).

Furthermore, I just feel like they did a really good job with this game considering it is a new game. I do hope they iron out some of the bugs and polish and add features moving forward, but this game did so well financially I don’t see why they wouldn’t. Overall I feel it’s a really good start to a new series
