Re: The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

It’s alive and well in the Show! After getting just 1 hit through 8 innings and trailing 3-0 I scored 4 in the ninth to win. (Sarcasm)

Seriously though I don’t feel this in this game at all.

Now, in this new season after 5 games, I've maybe completed 4 or 5 WR screens all year because teams are coming out playing up on the stacks and bunches, they are stacking boxes earlier on in games, and I am having a very hard time moving the ball at all. I started the year 0-3 before winning the last 2 and I didn't break 20 points in any of the losses.

It could be coincidence, but I was wondering if some tendencies and stats are tracked on our user profiles that the real time coaching engine relies on when going into a new game, and then they make adjustments mid-game based on how the game is going. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. It certainly feels like it at times, especially this season, but it could just be part coincidence and part how good the system already is in year 1.
I have zero definitive proof, but it sure feels like something is going on under the hood when it comes to tendencies long term.

If the game didn’t adjust to defend tendencies, people would complain that the AI is stupid. Now the game is adjusting and forcing people to change things up, and people are saying the AI is cheating.

EA put effort into this game but unfortunately it’s a polished Madden at the moment.
What?

I have played dozens of games so far, and not once have I felt cheated. Not sure what plays you are calling, but it might be wise to have a better 2nd half playsheet.

My main question is are you running the same 5 plays over and over?

Just curious

Re: The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

Havin read through this thread, I am reminded of something that was said many years ago on OS (I think it was many years ago, damn old age creeping in...lol)

It went something like "people want realism in their gameplay, but when they get it, they complain that the CPU is cheating"...

Bottom line is, if you constantly call the same plays over and over again, the CPU WILL pick up on it...as they should. In M24 they had something very similar in that if you call the same run plays the cpu will pick up on it and adjust.

I am 100% hoping they got this in for passing as well as it is definitely a gamechanger (imo)...hopefully gone are the days of running the same defenses and offenses and having success...it's about time these games are a chess match...instead of checkers.

I do admit though (much like Madden on All Madden) early on I was having doubts using Heisman as it seemed like no matter what if the cpu needed that much needed 3rd down conversion or that game tying TD, or better yet that end of half TD or final 2 minutes of a game TD, no matter what they were going to get it.

That has now been erased due to the Pass Coverage and Reaction sliders issue I was initially having, along with a couple other settings changes..I haven't had the chance to play as many games as I would like, but based on the 5 or so I have played, the defense seems to be back in Columbus

Re: The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

When it comes to gameplay, thiis game is a huge move forward. If you don't mix things up, the AI will catch on. Not even the same play but the same TYPE of play. If you like to run up the middle, it may work for a while but the AI will figure it out (definitely by the 2nd half). This is the most excited I've been over a video game in years. I'm so afraid it will be nerfed due to people complaining.

Edit-There are some very helpful Youtube videos that give a lof of good tips. Do you ID the Mike aand adjust o line protections? There are quite a few things that can really help with gameplay.

Re: The AI cheats in the 2nd Half

Games are scripted.

There's times where it's blatantly obvious that it's going to be a close game. Doesn't matter how well you play...the AI is going to force a close game...even against far outmatched opponents.

I'm talking Dynasty mode btw.

Conversely, there will be games where I play teams rated high, and they can't do ****.
