Actually, I'd probably be quick to disagree with you on this one.

I don't have any stats or links, but I'm pretty sure that the average age of an XBox/PS2 owner is in their mid to late 20s.

Heck..just think about what your local EB games looks like on NCAA release day. The place is PACKED with guys like me...working professionals, mid to late 20s, who grew up on Nintendo, etc. and continue to play regularly, especially sports games.

I'd be interested in seeing some actual statistics on just how old the average "avid" gamer is nowadays.

Well that would be a huge mistake IMO. We are pretty much the first generation of videogamers, which makes us the first to get into a bracket (25-40) that has never been catered to. Eventually that bracket is going to fill up and it be a mistake not to recognize it,

I'd argue that statement is very very off base. Mainstream video-gaming is no longer for the "younger crowd". Video gaming and particularly sports gaming is huge business in my age bracket -- its been proven in many studies and polls.

i agree that the people buying on opening day and reserve copies are robably mostly mid 25. but i would say after that it is pretty much going to be teenagers who just notice at the store in the mall 1 day and buy it then. i just think that it would make more sense to try to appeal to the younger market.

I can tell you that many research companies have discovered that the average age and number of hours spent gaming have increased drastically over the last several years as that base group of nintendo and atari gamers have grown up. Its become such a strong cultural phenomenon it influences everything from the TV ratings to advertising to the movie industry and how many entertainment industries have had to adjust to video gamings place in entertainment and what people use their free time for.

I dont have a link but i remember a game informer article a few years back where one of the game companies defended BMX XXX and that Beach Volleball game. They mentioned that the core age range of gamers was between like 18-35...that was a few years ago so it would basically be 21-38 now. The video game industry has been supported through the years by this age range. In 1982 the 35 year olds in the range cited would have been around 15. So yeah, its definitely not smart to turn your back on this age range.

im not saying that they should turn their backs on that age range. but i think that the 1st thing that they release for marketing purposes should be a new feature like this. if the first thing they said was the wr's now catch the ball better then it would give the game no hype at all.

Thumbs down Re: How lame.

Why can't they just focus on improving dynasty mode? Looks like this might be the year that I switch to Madden.

See youre wrong. People are already mad about last year. To make them even angrier makes it that much harder to win them over.
