Honest Assessment of NCAA 10

NCAA 10 is not worth a rent right now IMHO. Compare it with Madden 10 which has totally owned NCAA in every possible way: improved gameplay, fumble pile ups, gang tackling, chain gang, refs on field, pregame, halftime, postgame show, injury carts, weekly studio show, etc. Everything NCAA has Madden has and more (oh wait, except for Season Showdown, oh yaaaaaaaaaaay).

For the 4th year in a row, NCAA has no changes to its pregame buildup. This is unacceptable. And for the 7th year in a row, NCAA has no changes to its commentary (with the exception of Erin Andrews).

Madden has made leaps and bounds improvement in one year and NCAA has done nothing. You can all buy NCAA 10 but expect nothing more than NCAA 09 repackaged and costing 60 dollars.

Pros:
1. NCAA added Erin Andrews to report sideline injuries.
2. Actual pocket is formed.
3. WR/DB interraction.
4. Band is on field.

Cons:
1. No pregame, halftime, or postgame show.
2. No unsportsmanlike penalties for excessive celebrations.
3. No squib kicks.
4. No weekly recap show.
5. Band on field LOOKS horrible.
6. No major gameplay improvements.

Bottom Line: This one doesn't even deserve a rent.

Don't know if this is a dumb question, but did you play it at E3 or something?

Is this assessment in terms of gameplay coming from playing or from what you have seen and read?

Re: Honest Assessment of NCAA 10

From what I have seen and read. I am not anti-EA or anything. I am anti-crappy games like the NCAA series has become. I love EA games that are made well. And Madden 10 looks to be shaping up to be one of those games. Honestly and objectively compare Madden 10 and NCAA 10 and you will see that NCAA 10 is just a dud.

I just watched another gameplay video. It looks like the broken screen play has made a return. The guy threw a HB screen and ran all the way for a TD. Great.

Re: Honest Assessment of NCAA 10

Wow, Madden sure has alot of hype coming with it. If it sucks, Madden fanboys may act like it will never be good again. Also, I watched the franchise walkthrough of madden over on pasta padre. I was not impressed what so ever by the menus. The franchise menu looks similar to MLB Front Office Manager's menus, and those were confusing and ugly, in my opinion. Only thing it had which NCAA doesnt is the background of the part where it shows the game temp, and the teams, which looks strikingly similar to a generic front of a stadium.

First of all, I havent heard that there wont be any sort of pregame show again, like there was a few years ago, when Lee picked the team by putting on its mascot head/helmet. I havent heard it being confirmed that there wont be any squibs yet again. So if you heard this, or seen it confirmed not to be in, please enlighten me as to where...
