Re: Patch imminent..?

geez... i love OS and the ability to patch. if its possible, i know that progression issue will be patched. i am also ok with the fact that the hard core consumer is the new beta tester... and it gets to another level after the patch. i know its frustrating having the few weeks of a broken game, but the certainty and depth that tens of thousands of hardcore gamers is POWERFUL. that is just reality ! war eagle!

Wow! I totally disagree. When you are beta you don't have to drop 64 frickin dollars to play a bug laden game. You give the dev your time and they give you x amount of time to test THEIR game for FREE. How can you even say this.

Re: Patch imminent..?

They realize that the problem is with how poorly the generated recruits are rated, and not the progression right?

I don't want to see a patch where every offseason every player advances +10 ovr.

I want to see a patch where the recruits that are 4 stars come in at 74-80 and that the 3 stars are more abundant and higher rated, so that a small school will sometime make advances, not always regress and get beat by FCS Generic schools.

Re: Patch imminent..?

^^^Bingo. I have a bad feeling that this is what they are going to do instead of just fix the ratings of the incoming recruits. I actually love the amount the players progress from year to year. It's just that all the recruits start insanely low OVR.

However, with that being said, I think they have to fix the AWR level (and other key stats for certain positions, such as KP and KA for kickers) on incoming recruits regardless of what they do to fix the problem. I don't think tweaking the progression will do much for that.

Other than that, I'm loving the game (well, besides the PA glitch and the FG-crossbar catch glitch).

Re: Patch imminent..?

Yeah, I am definitely worried that we will get the OVR +12 patch instead of what is actually needed.

I still find it hilarious that they put so much emphasis on speed and acceleration for a RB's 5 star to 3 star rating.

We all know there is not much difference between a 5 star and 3 star in foot speed, but there are some ratings where there are differences.

A 5 star is bigger 6'0 + 200lbs+

A little Stronger STR, BTK, TRK
Run a little (NOTICE I SAID "LITTLE") faster SPD, ACCL, AGI, ELU
Catch a little better CTH, SPC CIT
and
Block better Pass Block, Pass block footwork, AWR

I just think that EA makes a 3 star RB way too slow. I believe a 3 star RB should be almost just as fast, but a little smaller and have less ratings in those categories, but most importantly the pass block.

The ability to pick up blitzes and pass block is what keeps most 5 star RB's from starting as true freshmen.

I just think EA puts the emphasis way too much on SPD, AGI, ACC, instead of the real differences of 5 star RB and a 3 star RB.

I think if you looked at it from that perspective you could do that for almost any position.

Re: Patch imminent..?

The thing about not acknowledging a problem is par for the course. When you announce a problem or announce that a patch is in the works for a problem, it gets picked up, and people don't buy the game until the patch is released... or they hold off an additional two weeks before buying. The most important time for game sales is the first month of release, and by announcing that a patch is fixing a glaring hole in the most important mode in the game, they're killing sales during one of the most important times.

It sucks because, sure, you want some word from EA that they acknowledge the problem, but silence, in this case, is probably a good thing. It probably means they've internally recognized the problem, are working on it, and then will announce a patch when it is submitted to MS and Sony.

Am I asking for too much?
but the problem with that that little tid bit of info will cause people to moan and groan why they couldn't give a more indept reason . it a no win situation. i think they are doing the right thing, based on what i saw go down with madden 10 last year

See that was my question. I sold NCAA 10 after about a month (before the patch) so I don't know how that was addressed. So, you're saying that last year's progression change worked for dynasties already in progress?

If that's the case, I would think there's an algebraic equation somewhere dictating the ratings for CPU generated recruits, and that if you just tweaked that (better WR ratings, AWR up, kickers that can actually kick, etc.), it should be able to impact current dynasties once those calculations are done between seasons. That would be great.

I agree that it does NOT sound like this is a progression problem like there was last year. They probably could "improve" the issue by changing progression, assuming that 4* and 5* recruits didn't start off high enough that they max out. But doing that instead of editing the recruits would make it a different game, as freshman would be almost worthless compared to upperclassmen.
