No, beta is a phase in the game development process. (Technically yes they are releasing a beta, but not to general audience, this will be for the in-house testers and maybe a select lucky community folks)

Jason French had written a blog about "Going Alpha" back in April.

Beta is the next step, next round of testing

Release Candidate, next round of testing

and then Release to Manufacturer, they manufacture and then we get the game (General Availability)
