Yeah, I am still baffled at CU being a 2* prestige again. To me, they are a 3* program.

I agree. I would imagine 50+% of schools should fall in the 3 * range. It means an "average" program. Obviously CU has some solid history and can absolutely climb back up, but all things considered, they are a 3.

Re: NCAA Football '13-Team Ratings

For prestige here is how I would do it:

The only schools I'd rate a 6 star (college football's historical icons) would be:

Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, Texas, Nebraska and Michigan

On the bubble: Florida and LSU (they've been very strong as late, but they haven't been icons for decades like the teams above)

5 star (national brand, excellent recruiting)

Auburn, Oregon, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Penn State and Tennessee

4 star (above average historical success - usually excellent recruiting)

Arkansas, Texas A&M, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Iowa, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Arkansas, Michigan State, etc type of schools

3 star (brief stints of success or major success long ago - recruiting varies)

Boise State, TCU, Kansas State, Utah, Colorado, UCLA, Minnesota, Air Force, Army, Navy, BYU, Houston, SMU, Syracuse, Washington, etc type of schools

2 star (non-aq schools or low tier aq schools who have not busted into major bowls or don't have a national brand like BYU, Army, Navy, etc.)

San Diego State, Troy, Arkansas State, Duke, Iowa State, Arizona(never been to Rose Bowl?), Vanderbilt, Indiana, USF, etc type of schools

1 star (really bad non aq teams or new schools)

UMASS, North Texas, Louisiana-Monroe, etc.

Ignore where I put the teams, because honestly I've probably overrated a school or underrated another one. I'm already second guessing not putting Washington in the 4star bracket, but basically my point is I'd bloat 2-3-4 star bracket and keep 1-5-6 pretty thin.

There shouldn't even be a prestige rating. It should be called recruit attractiveness or something. Just because you are a historically prestigious school doesn't mean you can attract top recruits. Success in college football is very cyclical.

Nebraska? ND? I'm not sure I can agree with those 2 but every other 6* I can. And you didn't mention an important tweener, imo, VaTech. Where would u put them? And Tennessee might be a 4*.
