In my dynasty, Oregon was ranked 5th, I'm ranked 21st and the next week I play Oregon so I'm like yay! after I beat Oregon I'll move up in the polls...But, what does Oregon do? They lose to Colorado and drop from 5th to 18th the week before I have to play them.

The only way to do it is via Supersim and that takes up some time. Now for me it's worth it, but I can understand the complaints. Any game that I think has a chance of a ridiculous upset, I Supersim. I take the higher ranked or home team as the human side vs the CPU in coach mode. You've got to pick one play, either KO or KR and then you can sim the rest of the game. Stats and outcomes are much, much more realistic.

Re: An excessive amount of upsets in dynasty mode. Anyone else notice this?

The biggest problem I have seen isn't necessarily outlandish upsets, but rather the fact that 9 out of 10 times when two ranked teams play, the lower ranked team will WIN.

This has happened without fail through three years of my dynasty, but I never really started paying attention until this season. Right now I'm through Week 4 of my dynasty and most everyone in the Top 25 has played three games, a couple have played four games.

I have made special note of the Top 25 vs. Top 25 matchups when simming and noted that of the 11 Top 25 vs. Top 25 games, the lower ranked team has won 10 out of 11 times. Including the #1 team in the country losing in two consecutive weeks. The only higher ranked team that won was #2 Alabama squeezing a 27-24 win out against #24 Clemson.

Right now, with most everyone in the Top 25 having played only three games, there are EIGHT teams in my Top 25 that have at least one loss. LSU is ranked #20 with TWO losses (1-2 record).

Meanwhile, in the current real life AP Top 25, with most everyone in the nation having played either four or five games, there is only FIVE teams with a loss that are still ranked.

Another problem, and this may have already been pointed out so my apologies if it has, is that the outcome of these games are predetermined. As much as we'd like to think there's some random CPU calculation that goes into the simulation of each game, there really isn't. I tested this in two consecutive weeks -- first week I had a thursday night game, second week I had a bye. I turned off AutoSave and simmed each Top 25 game one by one. I noticed the scores, exited dynasty and returned and got the exact same score. I did this at least five times each week and noticed that each game remained exactly the same. So yes, even the option of trying to re-sim the games is null and void this year. No matter what you do, these upsets are going to happen NO MATTER WHAT and there's nothing you can do to change it.

Yeah I agree I was trying to sim the BIG TEN So it was realistic to what is really happening and Simmed the Alabama vs Michigan a number of times and it was always 27 to 24 Michigan every time.

Oy. That is because the outcome of the game is determined at the beginning of the week, not while the game is being played. The games are not predetermined, they are just determined when you advance the week.

EA has said as much countless times.

Sorry, I'm not following -- what I did is sim to Week 4 and before I did anything, I went to the Top 25 schedule and started to sim each game individually. I exited and re-simmed and the score remained the same each time.

Are you saying the score for the Week 4 games are decided when I'm advancing from Week 3 to Week 4?

Exactly! So the games are decided as soon as you advance the week. It's kind of a bummer (it sucks that the outcome of the game is basically set and stone) but its not so bad as every game being predetermined.

Well see, that to me is basically the definition of predetermined. If the game is being decided in advance, before I have any say in it, and there's no way to change that outcome (short of playing the game), then that outcome is predetermined.

It makes no sense that you advance the week and before any games have been played, their outcomes have already been...well, predetermined. I would like to imagine, in my heart of hearts, that each time you simulate a game, that those two teams are playing their own unique game of football. And the CPU takes into account ratings, etc. Whatever calculations they throw together to create a unique result for that particular game. Now that we know that is in fact NOT the case, is extremely disappointing and a real problem.
